I like golf. I’m a casual. I’m terrible at it, but it is fun and I have appreciation for a beautiful course. However I find it comical grown men go this crazy over this one event.

Catching the azaleas in bloom is key.

The Masters would probably be even more popular if you swapped it with the British Open.

Late April: competing with NBA playoffs, MLB, college baseball

Mid July: competes with mid-season MLB

April weather is also a lot more pleasant do be doing stuff outside in the middle part of the day when golf is on TV.

Its a gorgeous course, but there are at least a few places I like watching the golf more. Pebble, Sawgrass, St Andrews for sure to me have better golf, and then a few others I don't feel as strongly about.

Jesus Christ there are some terrible takes ITT

You're right. I forgot that the NBA has adopted the business model of making the playoffs last (seemingly) just as long as the regular season. (Potentially) two months of playoffs is absurd

Yeah, I don't get the sense the players and fans would be all that excited to play/attend a tournament in Georgia...in mid-July. It was a "pleasant" 93 degrees in August, GA last July 18th

We did have a fall Masters once and it was fine

The course was not nearly as colorful/pretty with nothing in bloom though.
It looked kind of odd without the spring blooms.

ETA; you realize that the season is over in Augusta after the masters. It’s not played during the summer
