lost two straight games:

Cam Newton was three years old.
Czechoslovakia had recently broken up, forming The Czech Republic and Slovakia
WWF's Monday Night Raw was in it's first year of existence
Bill Clinton was in his first year as president of the United States
The first Starfox game was released that year
Continuing with the video games theme, classics such as Doom and Donkey Kong had yet to be released
Born in August 1993, Andre Drummond was merely an infant
Jerome Bettis won the NFL's Rookie of the Year award
My favorite movie of all time (not really, well... maybe) Tombstone was released that year. 1993 was actually a great year for film, other notables: Jurassic Park, Dazed and Confused, Hocus Pocus and Schindler's List, Philadelphia, The Fugitive, Mrs. Doubtfire, Robin Hood Men in Tights, Rudy, Cool Runnings, Super Mario Bros., The Sandlot, Free Willy, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Sound like too good of a year to be true?

It's a testament to the terrible quality of the women's basketball talent pool. Yet they receive the same number of scholarships as men.

It was more impressive when UT was around as a legit challenge, now it's boring. Unless half their team suffers a freak injury the season is over once it starts.

Reason #1 why Women's CBB sucks.

Before UCONN it was Tennessee before them Southern Cal and Louisiana Tech before them, it was nobody...because the tourney didn't exist. AIWA was the governing body and Louisiana Tech dominated along with Old Dominion.

It's been 5 teams in 40 years. With Stanford sprinkled in there.

How is title IX working exactly?

The point of that wasn't parity in sports.

The point of title IX was forced equality at the expense of real sports

You would expect some parity if it was working.

Talent spread out across the country.

AIWA before Title IX was producing the same limited results post Title IX.

Nothing has changed in competitiveness.

And yes, that was a point of Title IX...to make it like the NCAA tourney.

I'm not sure you're making the point you think you are.

12 out of 30 or so is significantly more than 5 out of 100, or however many D1 women's teams are out there.

Yeah but college sports is a "rigged" system so the vast majority of the participants don't have a reasonable chance of ever winning a title anyway, that goes for all college sports. Not necessarily true in the pros.

There's parity in some women's sports

Honestly, I think about 10-20 years down the line we will see more in other sports as well, including basketball. The amendment isn't that old. And it's not until the last 40 or so years that women playing sports wasn't ridiculously frowned upon.

I don't think we will ever see the parity that we do in say men's basketball but I expect it to improve over time as there's less stigma for girls to play sports.

There was no salary cap for most of the Celtics titles in the NBA.

You could out-bid everyone like the Yankees for years.

Pro sports has no relevance on this phenomenon in women's college sports.

Is UCONN paying these players, did UT?

Having it always down to a couple of teams - shows there is still a dearth of talent in women's sports. A few teams get the talent and they're so much better than everyone else.

That was not the point of Title IX...it was to expand and grow women talent...

That hasn't happened if you look at the stats. There is no giant pool of female talent to draw from.
