I think so. Oakland fans cared. The owner was just THAT bad.

Vegas folks won’t care. The ones that do probably hate coming to The Strip anyway. The ballpark renderings look pretty ugly. I don’t think tourism can support 81 home games.

Alas, it doesn’t really matter if people show up, see Miami and Tampa.

Why would the A’s be any different than the Knights? It’s a hockey team in the middle of the desert and they are and have been pretty successful on and off the ice.

Agree in theory and I am a VGK fan and live elsewhere. When I went to a game though, even with their following it was 45% road fans. A's will draw fine but probably half or more road fans... their money is still accepted.

That’s why. The Knights won right out of the gate.

Why do the Panthers and Lightning do so well in South Florida in Tampa? It’s hockey in the middle of a tropical environment. They win. Marlins and Rays don’t draw dick.

There are some easy parallels between the situations.

There is a convention there non-stop.

Has been the case for decades now. Not quite sure what took so long for Vegas to get professional sports franchises.

Hoover Dam is a 35 minute drive and the Grand Canyon Skywalk is a two hours away.

Their stadium isn’t that old either. Wonder what becomes of that place.

Probably nothing. They’re the A’s affiliate and there’s a growing trend of having your AAA team nearby. Houston has a similar setup and still gets fans out. It’s a different experience at a different price point so both can do fine in the same place.

There was still a stigma around sports gambling and leagues wanted nothing to do with Las Vegas. Not to mention, the population of Vegas didn’t really boom until the late ’90s, so there wasn’t a viable fan base to support a pro team.

Foley was committed to building a winner right from the jump. Fisher is a shitty owner that has never cared about winning. That's why the Athletics almost always trade away their best players. That's the difference.

That is literally no different than any other team in the country at any level.

You don’t win, you don’t draw. Period.

The A’s are already spending more money than they ever have. I’m sure once they start with their home revenue in Vegas, it’ll increase.

And they're also home-grown and not from another city.

Why havent they changed the name to Las Vegas Aces yet? Names should stay with the city when teams move.
