It will be a win if they last three seasons.

It's a three year lease and the only contingency is 3k butts in seats per game. They'll have no problem doing that in year one, I'd bet we're closer to 4k+.

Year 2 for the Zydeco still was north of that number, and last year really fell off (just shy of 2,200/game). That's with a horrific product on the ice after about halfway through year 2 and last year's 11-45 W/L record, as well as the ownership group legitimately not giving a damn last year.

As long as this ownership group avoids the severe lack of competence and care that the Zydeco felt, I wouldn't be shocked to see them not only make it three years, but secure another lease.

Matt/Andreas/Jacob are already lightyears ahead of whatever the frick Chris/Don and Barry/Kelly (then Don) were doing previously.

All that to say... if they make it to year 3, it will be a win.

No, all that to say - making it to year 3 is almost a certainty. It's what lies beyond that which is in question.

Nothing that plays in the River Center is a certainty to last more than a year.

I'm not a huge fan of Wayne, and I know it's outdated, but a three year lease with the only contingency being met (as Legends Global is about to have their contract renewed now with keeping hockey)? That's about as certain as it'll get there.

Which still isn't certain when it comes to the River Center.

It was outdated in 2003.

They will. That jersey was just a makeshift jersey for the name unveiling ceremony today

Hopefully after three years they can get in a better league

In three years, I'm not convinced the SP will still be considered the better league at the A level.

There is zero chance of an ECHL team in the current River Center.

I'm hoping the new LSU arena will be at least in progress by then.

Issue there would be the price of the lease while being a very undervalued tenant. All LSU sports would likely come before the hockey team, and who even knows if LSU wants to play ball with ice management during basketball/gymnastics seasons.
