That entire decade was lit.
Braves pitching staff on TBS every night.
Seattle Mariners with prime Ken Griffey and that monster lineup
Colorado Rockies scoring 10 runs every game at home...and giving up 12.
The Albert Belle drama
There's much more to add....

Baseball in the 80’s > Baseball in the 90’s

MLB literally cancelled a season right in the middle of it. Safe to say it wasn’t doing great.

Did it though? Baseball is tanking pretty hard right now.

Colorado Rockies attendance record of 4.4M people during their inaugural 1993 season.
That’s impressive

As a Braves fan I agree. I watched the Braves win a World Series after the strike. I hated the Yankees pre '98 and I hate the Yankees post '98, not much changed. Actually, because of the Yankees buying championships and me going into the military in the summer of '98, I watched less baseball post Home Run Chase.

HR chase came after the strike. When players returned, iirc, attendance and tv ratings were way down.
Sosa and MM had people talking about baseball across the country again.
Side note, I can't tell you the last time I overheard anyone talking pro baseball.

Yea bc Bernie Williams, Paul O’Neill, Scott Brosius, Chuck Knoblach, and Chad Curtis were “bought” for a championship. GTFO.

Steroids were the salvation, not McGuire.

80’s, 90’s, early 2000’s. Anything is better than today. I love baseball but MLB is borderline unwatchable. All the strikeouts, lack of balls and play, very few stolen bases, no more hit and runs. The analytics are killing baseball.

To be fair... Knoblauch and Brosius were both traded to the Yankees for cash. Also some players, but cash was involved.

dude as a high schooler during that time and a huge baseball guy (would skip school 6-12 grade on opening day to watch baseball all day) the HR chase absolutely saved baseball with general public.
The strike almost killed baseball for normal JOE BLOW. Every Joe Blow was talking about the HR chase, it was must see tv.
now i agree 80s and 90s were awesome baseball. I loved stolen bases, hit and runs etc and I fricking hate the shift in baseball and believe it should be illegal.

Nope… NFL and NBA was killing baseball… Mark, Sosa, and Bonds saved baseball… even the scandal was good to a certain extent… put them back to being talked about on TV

I wish I could have seen the 50s through 70s.
