If thrown correctly it is impossible for the defender to intercept it and all it requires is a height advantage and it's almost imposs8ble to stop. It can be thrown short or deep to tight ends or recievers. The receiver doesn't have to be cast or have Good route running. All you have to do is be bigger than the corner jump and catch it. Idk why more teams don't use it.

I prefer the “Stepped Gumby” over the fade.

I have no problem if it's Stafford to Calvin Johnson, but watching college teams waste plays inside the five on the 1 in 10 chance their QB can pinpoint a dart into a corner and have the WR go get it over the DB makes me crazy. Sidenote - I am also getting rustled lately at the term "highpoint" the ball.

I'm partial to the slant but it might just be because Gus refuses to run it

Imagine if you line a 6'5 tight end up at wideout against a 5'11 corner. He's way bigger and way taller just throw the ball up and let the big guy come down with it. Any high school quarterback can throw the fade that way. Now I agree, throwing the fade to a 5'10 receiver is dumb and pointless.

the corner fade is a bad play bc even with that kind of height advantage, a CB that knows leverage can get a breakup most of the time anyway. The receiver is the one who has to do more on that play, by catching the ball, bringing it in, and keeping one or two feet inbounds. The CB just has to get a piece of the ball or jostle the receiver, plus there's more chance of an offensive PI for pushing off than anywhere else on the field

Point being, and i've said this for years, that the hardest route to defend is a come-back when the CB's back is turned.

Almost every CB will have his back turned at some point when you are running a vertical route in man coverage.

When the receiver stops and comes back, he will almost ALWAYS have a huge advantage on the defender.

It's time we start using this a bit more.
