The cotton bowl really did feel like a BCS bowl

Watching the game last night, it was easy to forget that this wasn't a BCS bowl game. Great atmosphere, high profile teams and good production quality.
Really think Cotton should be a BCS bowl game. They could even drop the Orange.

It did kind of. Probably because it was played after some of the BCS bowls and had a better matchup than some BCS bowls.
ETA: and it is the top non-BCS bowl.

The BSC is ending and the Cotton, along with the CFA will likely be in what they call the access bowls once the playoff starts.
ETA: its fricking comical to me the people that still think going to the Cap One is a better bowl because they get to pick first and that LSU was slighted going to the Cotton in 2010.

I think with the playoff system in 2014 the Cotton Bowl will be a BCS bow/ or the equivelent.

If the Orange could have taken whoever they wanted and grabbed OU and A&M it probably would have been the opposite. Not really the Orange Bowl's fault they were stuck with ACC and NIU

Starting in 2014 the OB will be ACC vs an SEC or B1G team. Big upgrade for them.

Oklahoma getting raped? Definitely felt like a BCS Bowl

The reason it was a better game is because it WASN'T in the BCS... it allowed two top notch B12/SEC teams to match up.... not a 7-5 wisconsin, overrated NIU, 25th ranked UL, etc playing in it.
Looking forward to the B12/SEC matchups in the future...

to me, those bowls are about equal. if people hold the cap one(formerly citrus bowl) in higher regard to the cotton bowl, the only logical reason is because prior to the bcs, the citrus bowl featured the #2 sec vs #2 big 10 team, and had some great matchups back in the mid to late 90s.

Yeah, that 25th ranked Louisville sure did stink up the joint. How could they even think they belonged on the same field as Top 10 Florida?

This. The Cotton is way better than Cap 1.

That's not the point... UL being in the game hurt the matchup... just look at the attendance of the two games. No doubt UL belong on that stage, but they don't have the recognition/draw like a top 5 historic program like Oklahoma.

yup, will be nice. Though it'll probably be the #3 team from the SEC since #1 will be in the playoffs and #2 in that game against the Big 12

still though, this year it would have been FSU vs UGA/LSU/TAMU/USCe.. any of those matchups would have been great

It felt that way because they had 2 good teams playing and the most electrifying player in college sports absolutely went off!!! Duh!

If I have to travel to see my team in a marquee game, I do not want to go to Dallas. The venue is sweet but I don't care much for the city and weather this time of year.

You Oregon fans sure are fickle about traveling.
