All sports need to seed playoffs based on record and not winning the division.

why? college football fans hate on the NFL, but putting so much emphasis on winning your division leads to lowkey the most meaningful regular seasons in the 4 major pro sports

Disagree for a number of reasons. There are still 3 weeks left in the season. At least wait until the season is over before complaining.

It’s much easier in the other pro sports to have balanced schedules. With only 16 games, and a weighted schedule, the current format in the NFL is the best solutfor playoff seeding.

Chargers need that hometown crowd of 27,000 to win in the playoffs?

Happened to the Saints in the NFC in 1987 and 1992.

Nobody cried for us.

Agree. The four division winners and two wild cards still make the playoffs. But seeding based on record.

But then again, we would have not witnessed this.

Why even bother having divisions then?

I think the divisions are somewhat pointless anyway. I believe Jackonsville was 4-2 in the division last year, while Tennesee was 5-1. But, since JAX was 10-6 overall and TEN was 9-7, JAX won the division.

So what's the point of the division if the team with the best divisional record doesn't always win the division?

I can see an argument either way really. Give the division winners playoff berths, but seed based on overall record, not division finish.

Seems like this should sort itself out with them playing one another. Beat them if you want the higher seed

Yeah, because as we know, home field advantage doesn't matter.

As a saints fan who had to suffer through all of those years with the 49ers in the NFC West, just want to say get over it.
