According to both Zach Lowe and The Ringer, these will be the 2020 All-NBA Teams:

First team

LeBron James, James Harden, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis

Second team

Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Luka Doncic, Jimmy Butler, Nikola Jokic

Third team

Ben Simmons, Jayson Tatum, Pascal Siakam, Khris Middleton, Rudy Gobert

All of those guys except Simmons played in the playoffs. These are the players that are expected to elevate their play when it matters most, right?

After 2 rounds of the playoffs, lets look at the regular and postseason differences in PER, TS%, WS/48, and BPM, the advanced metrics that aren't influenced by number of games played, to get an understanding of each player's individual playoff performance relative to the regular season:

Obviously the Overall +/- number is heavily influenced by PER and BPM, but you can still clearly see which players performed above and below their regular season levels in each category.

Thoughts?

Oftentimes the opponent plays a bigger role in this than playoff v reg season. For Instacne if you are a top seed in the east you are playing a weaker than League average team in the playoffs.

I hope New Orleans doesn't end up wasting Zion like they did with AD for all of those years.

Your stats didn't load on my page, but I think one thing that is often missed during this argument is that defensive play is much better in the playoffs than the regular season. This is for two reasons: 1. The games mean more 2. Coaches area able to scheme better throughout the series.

DeMarcus Cousins achilles RIP. I still believe things would be different if he doesn't get hurt.

Your stats aren’t loading for me, either. But I’d say judging by your tone, no matter what they say, they likely aren’t the “gotcha” you think they are.

Fixed the image link in the OP

That explains why Middleton and Siakam were beyond terrible in the playoffs relative to their regular seasons according to this data.

Siakam last year

21% usage. - .63 true shooting.

This year

28% usage - .55 true shooting.

Siakam should be a 3rd banana, efficiency drops off big time when his usage goes up.

So... further proving he’s not really one of the best players in the league?

What do you notice about harden from those +/- numbers WBB?

I noticed that it is a total joke calculations is what i noticed.

A 20 PER with a 20% increase would be 24 PER.

That would be a difference of 4.

A .200 Ws/48 with a 20% increase would be .24

The difference would be .04.

Meaning you value PER 100x more than ws/48. I would say I know you can do better but tbt I don’t know that.

If you want to do it legitimately you would measure the % difference, not the actual #, and adjust for strength of opponent.

I just want to take this time to LOL

LOL at everyone

LOL at the clippers

LOL at the hipster basketball fan

LOL at the clipper media members

LOL at the national media members

All we've done since this past summer is listen to everyone talk about how much better the clippers are than the lakers and how they will just flip the switch

LOL at the clippers for subtweeting at every possible moment. From getting Jerry west to say "this is the best organization I've ever worked for". To their marketing of "LA our way" and "streetlights not spotlights". To having doc rivers literally give an interview about how the lakers shouldn't be allowed to claim 16 championships

LOL at the clipper media members who did nothing but suck this team off every step of the way even in the face of it not working. It was hilarious how sure they were and how unilaterally they pushed how great their chemistry was and how awful the lakers was

So, to wrap it up, LOL. This is what happens when you think you've already won 3 championships when you've literally never done shite
