O’Day’s ERA was sparkly but the 3 battler rule isn’t ideal for him and the stuff has really diminished despite the fact that he obviously knows how to pitch to righties. Seems like somebody you bring back cheaper but the price was a little high on somebody as limited as him role-wise.

A sign we’re not gonna be spenders?
There aren’t going to be many spenders with all the uncertainties regarding budgets due to COVID restraints. Options are being declined all over the league.

I mentioned a couple of days ago that FA this year is going to be dull b/c every team is gonna take it in the shorts revenue wise due to COVID.

Well I figured it would but I meant relative to other teams

I don’t know that you could ever call the Braves big spenders relative to other teams.
Posted on 10/30/20 at 9:11 am to bigpapamac
Probably so.
But if nearly all teams are being financially conservative and Braves are already notoriously “flexible” with their financials, could really mean we could get dusted quick in the Ozuna or Bauer talks.
I think some teams will be more aggressive than others, depending on ownership.

Charlie Morton makes tons of sense on another 1 year deal. Rumored that Atlanta and Tampa were the only places he was willing to sign last offseason, although Tampa is reportedly his top choice.

Braves sign Abraham Almonte to major league deal.
Mike Soroka, Jeremy Walker, Phil Pfeifer re-instated from 60-day injured list.
Charlie Culberson clears waivers and elects free agency.

Don’t know much about him. I guess we are using him as a bench/possible platoon to Duvall until they think Waters is ready?

Doubt he is any significant part of their plans. Seems like a depth signing like a Solarte. It’s non-guaranteed.
Probably saw something they like in the underlying numbers or thought there is potential due to a flaw they think can correct and wanted to jump in early.

Ozuna is gonna wear out the Green Monster in Fenway.

Wainwright wouldn’t be sexy but he would be a dependable 4th starter when Soroka comes back. It would mean that we only need one of Wright or Wilson to pitch well.

Wouldnt mind him if he is super cheap especially at 39. But wouldn't give him much
Basically been average or below average pitcher since 2016, which would have been third best starter this year

Tf outta here with Waino.
Go for:
Bauer
Stroman
Morton
Kluber
In that order.

I agree with your first three, but Kluber has thrown 36 innings since 2018. Not sure that would be money well spent.
