I know they weren't planning to let Fried get really deep in this game, but there's no way I would pull him right now.

It was a legitimately perfect throw. If Riley had let it go, it would have hit Castellanos in the foot. That is how accurate of a throw it was.
Great throw, but when you best hitter is on deck and you are in scoring position, stay your arse on 2nd

He shouldn't unless Freddie makes an out without advancing him.

Imagine all the fricks I give.
Judging by the disertation you wrote after this reply I'd say you do.

Except it does in baseball. Good pitchers who have shown great command and good hitters who have shown the same both get the benefit of the doubt. And very few have ever benefitted as much as prime Maddux and Glavine.
There is an art that they mastered of finding an umps strike zone early, hitting it consistently, then gradually pushing it out to where hitters can’t hit change ups there because they run out of bat. And I’m not some hard core traditionalist—I’ve wanted the DH in the NL for years—I’d be fine with going to a computer calling balls and strikes. Safe and out too. But until they move to that, the human element of pitcher/hitter/umpire will be something to be exploited.
Exploiting human error is one thing.
Saying that the pitcher "earned" the umpire's error despite what the rules say makes 0 sense.

How about our best hitter this year having a routine foul pop-up?
