We're also seeing why AJSS, at this point in his return process, is not a starter.
His command still isn't there so his pitch count gets driven up with a quickness and he is relying on his full pitching repertoire from the very beginning.
It makes it so much easier for the lineup to pounce the second time through.

That’s where AA’s lack of intention at the deadline really fricked us.
AJSS should be finishing this year in Gwinnett to get his confidence and comfortability back after the grueling TJ rehab process. Instead we fast tracked a 23-year-old back to the majors because we needed instant reinforcements in our rotation for the stretch run.
Just bad overall planning that put a young, high-potential prospect in a no-win situation

Twice we have Hicklen and Kim get on with no outs and we’ve scored one total run via the top of our order.

AJ has good stuff……he’s always had command issues at this level though. You were correct further down in this thread as well though……AA should not have been banking on a KID coming back from TJ rehab being a difference making SP in a postseason run.
Between this offense’s ineptitude and the lack of a dominant starter after Sale…….this is going to be a very quick postseason

Ronald’s best days are behind him. In a sport where the power is generated from your legs and torn ACLs are uncommon, having both knees being reconstructed might be a killer.

He was arguably out pitching Sale in the month and a half prior to TJ last year.
His pitch mix is too robust for a reliever. He’ll be fine.
