Walt has a lot of decisions to make, as he only carried 11 pitchers in the wild card round. Surely he’ll have at least 12, especially with the potential of bullpen games.
Does JR Ritchie get a start? Does AJSS make the roster? Status of Perez and Elder?

Baseball momentum is tricky, but if any team has it, it’s the Braves right now.

I would think AJSS is added assuming Elder/Perez are not ready yet.

AJSS will be on the roster regardless.

I imagine two of Tellez, Hicklen and Keirsey goes off the roster to bring in more pitching. Ritchie will be one for sure. No idea on the other.

The goal is simple: Just get one game in LA to flip home field advantage, putting all the pressure on LA.

We saw it work in our favor in 2021 at Milwaukee and saw it kill us vs Philly in 22 and 23. In a five game series, if the road team can split one of the first two, it's a really hard hole to dig out for the home team, compared to a 7 game series.

From a player confidence standpoint, I do think it helps that we had success against LA this year, but I'm not sure how much stock we can put into it.

In those 4 of those 6 games, we faced Sheehan, Snell in his first game back after a long rehab, Wrobleski and Sasaki in a spot start.

We did put 3 on Glasnow in LA and then pulled out a win against Yammamoto (The Sale CGSO), but he dominated our bats.

just look back at that nats team years back. barely made the 1 game WC.

luckily won that game

then from that point on rolled in NLDS, NLCS and then beat the astros in the WS.

they had stacked pitching tho with sherzer, strasbourg ,corbin and some other guy if i recall.

who we start in game 1?

game 2-mahle
game 3 sale

Really have no idea how the pitching shakes out.

Game 1 we're going to need a miracle. But if we somehow win the opener, you have one of two options for Game 2, go for the jugular and use your Sale bullet or give him two extra days of rest, be happy that you got at least a split on the road and have him and Mahle ready for Game 3 & 4 with Sale ready to give you 2-3 innings out of the pen in Game 5.

If you lose Game 1, you have to go Sale Game 2.

Atlanta Braves legend Ray Kerr on how he stayed so calm last night:

Wild take here but why not roll out Dodd as the opener for game 1? Dodgers are another lefty heavy lineup with Ohtani and Freddie. Then use Sale in game 2.

Ohtani is a big question mark in all of this. He's had an OPS below .800 the last two months while battling injuries.

If he's not 100%, there's a path to us pulling this out. If the rest has him back to his normal self, we're going to need some crazy luck.

I'll be honest, I don't think we win this. Just like why I thought we would beat Philly, you have to give the edge to the team that has more talent and was able to line up their rotation.

But again, split in a LA and all bets are off.

Also I was on the Harris has been our best player train all season. I never waivered.

Fun fact his homerun in the 1st inning was 1 point 1 feet below the strike zone, making it the lowest pitch he has ever hit for a homerun

Freeman is in the same boat. September was the worst month of his career. Of course he could always come out and hit like 2004 Barry Bonds against us, but worth noting.

I feel like every time we've played the Dodgers since Freddie left, the narrative has been "Freeman has been struggling at the plate lately", only for him to go deep 1-2 times against us.

Please, for the love of all things holy, no rousing ovations for Freeman when the Dodgers come here for a playoff game.

100% in agreement. We are here to win baseball games not share our feelings like an HR seminar.

Also VA I bet all the people nay saying us for wanting to trade Waldrep last season at his peak value feel pretty dumb about now.

I'm not one to keep receipts because lord knows I've had some very wrong takes about this team (Michael Harris), but yeah we were pretty spot on here.

I know it's popular to criticize AA for not making the big move (and it is warranted sometimes), but the smaller moves he has made have been mostly incredible. This one from December 2023 looks pretty damn good right now:
