For Teheran, are the braves going to be asking for a major leaguer, major league ready prospect, or just prospects?

I mean, I have no idea what their plan is. If it was me, I'd try to take a team's short term bad contract on a major leaguer and rob their system blind. I'm in full, "let's tank this year and next year" mode though.

I'd have a really hard time buying MLB.TV next year if we ship Freeman off.

I'm in no way saying next year will be fun or easy to watch. You'd be better off getting milb.tv. Then you could just watch our prospects.

I would have traded Freeman before Simba.

From another board

quote:

Was listening to MLBN Radio today. Duquette was discussing the Braves and he said that the current decision makers (specifically Coppy) for ATL preferred Heyward over Freeman and there was some dissension within the org about the Freeman extension (specifically the timing) because it all but eliminated any chance of extending Heyward.

Basically said Heyward was the guy Coppy wanted to build around and when they realized they couldn't they made the decision to totally move on from that core.

I agree. Contract wise, it makes way more sense to deal Freeman, plus we already have Swisher on roster who could play 1B for us. Simmons also gives our young staff a lot of protection.

But what's done is done. Now, we have to move forward, and the best way to build this team for the future is by selling off our most valuable assets in Freeman and Teheran. I'd like to see Freeman gone this offseason just to get most of the pain over with before the new stadium opens. We could deal Teheran at the deadline or during next offseason. That's just me spitballing though.

I just got an ESPN alert saying that Freeman could be a potential trade option for the Astros (in that writers opinion). I don't even want to know what it would take to get him away from ya'll.

What are your top prospects you have left these days hoohoo? I know you have Daz, Tucker, and Bregman from the last draft, but not sure what else you have at the top.

I'm assuming AJ Reed would be coming back our way as one of the pieces if we were trading Freddie your way just due to us not having any 1B replacements in the pipeline for the next couple years.

I would love Velzsquez and Reed for Freddie

Maybe we can get them to throw in Moran as well, but doubtful.

Whats the left side of the braves IF like prospect wise? I know y'all have Albies, but he is still a few years out. I would think the Braves would be very interested in Bregman, no?

And I don't think Moran is off limits either. Astros called up Matt Duffy last season who is comparable with the glove as Moran but has a better bat. He is just an older prospect though, so he isn't getting the high prospect ranking like Moran. In the DAT thread, I mentioned Tyler White might be on the Braves radar as well if Reed wasn't a part of the deal. Plus a couple of pitchers with most probably at least one major league ready guy like VV or Feliz.

Left side of Braves IF prospects:

1. Albies, SS (Low A)
2. Riley, 3B (Rookie/Low A)
3. Ruiz, 3B (Double A)
4. Yepez 3B/1B (DSL)

Yeah, a Bregman/Albies middle infield starting in mid 2017 would look good for us. Reed and Bregman for Freddie would probably be about what I would expect if we moved him give his length of control and being our main fan favorite left.

Hell who knows, maybe we could make a mega deal with you guys and send Julio to you as well.

From Rosenthal:

Officials from three different clubs told me that the Braves have indeed shopped first baseman Freddie Freeman, with one saying such a possibility was “the talk of the (Arizona) Fall League” among scouts about 10 days ago.

The Braves, another official says, are “shopping everyone owed money” – a group that would include right-hander Julio Teheran, right fielder Nick Markakis and center fielder Cameron Maybin, among others.

DOB says his sources deny it about Freeman. Says they never denied Simmons talks, so he trusts them.

Braves want 2 A+ prospects for freddie. Aka the moon. Not many teams have those and even fewer would be willing to trade them.

Maybe houston?

About the only team that would make sense if we are getting hitting back, and we better be getting hitting back if we are moving Freddie.

But I wouldn't call any of their prospects A+, honestly.

Boston could as well.

Yeah, Boston could, but I don't see them giving up Devers or Moncada for Freddie really. Though of course those two would be A+ and very interesting to get in return.

And while they might not be A+, the Astros have a bunch of interesting bats that are A-/B+ like AJ Reed, Bregman, Tucker, Daz, and JD Davis.

And lets get realistic, we aren't getting 2 A+ prospects for Freddie anyway.

I'd probably try and make a megadeal with the Astros myself and try and send them Freddie and Julio for Reed, Bregman, Tucker or Daz, and JD Davis or a pitching prospect. Would give us some quality hitting prospects our system is lacking overall.
