It’s such bullshite that was allowed to go on. It totally ruined the sport and how teams generate fan base interest regionally. There’s absolutely no reason a Louisiana native with no ties to Chicago should be a Cubs fan.

These days with streaming being so available honestly you should be able to watch every game no matter who’s playing. TV shouldn’t dictate anything.

What do you tell Shreveport people lol…

NFL is different. We all should be Saints fans because we have the Saints. We’ve never had MLB. We all should be Pelicans fans but if they haven’t won some people over I understand why

Because a bullshite nationwide fan base has helped the Cubs so much

growing up in Lake Charles they always did a good job marketing the area. They always would do the caravan, and I remember 2 years straight they brought players to speak with us at school.

I have a pic from 7th grade with Steve Finley, Louis Gonzales and Xavier Hernandez

Well of course. I am from br and grew up an Astros fan. Being it's the closest MLB team to most of louisiana, only 4 hours from br, it makes sense...not to mention the amount of transplants from LA who live in Houston and east TX. There are alot of 'stros fans in Louisiana. There are also a shitload of LSU fans in Houston and east TX. It's all about proximity.

I’m surprised that there’s not as many Cardinals fans in South Louisiana considering how KMOX 1120AM can be heard so clearly especially at night.

In the 1960s and into the 70s, KXKW in Lafayette broadcast White Sox games.
Lafayette is White Sox country.

The Astros used to be broadcast by a Lafayette tv station (want to say K19 or something?) that aired as far as Baton Rouge. This was during the late '80s/early '90s Art Howe years. I watched them every evening as a kid. The Astros definitely were huge in south Louisiana then (as well as the Cubs and Braves). The players even did a signing at Cortana Mall in Baton Rouge, which is where I got Craig Biggio, Mark Portugal, and Phil Neikro baseball cards signed. I even used to sport a fitted Astros cap in those days.

I also remember the Bad News Bears Break Training being a big deal because they played at the Astrodome.

I don't have it, but Direct TV has the Rangers, Mavs and Stars on their regional network in a regional sports package for and extra $14/month. You can put in your zip code and see what's in the regional package in your area in one of these links.

That Braves Astros World Series really had the state divided. That was really exciting
