Whatever they would get at the deadline is probably comparable to what they would get this off-season. It’s worth trying to win this year to make a run and convince a talent like him to stay IMO

And, yet, Trout took the money. That’s why I hate the sob stories every summer about how Trout hasn’t played on a playoff game since 2014. Who cares? He made that decision to take the money, and as a personal decision of weather and finances, it’s a good decision. But let him also accept the consequences of being on the Angels and not being in the playoffs.
