They aren't denying that assault happened, just that the 49ers didn't interfere with the investigation.

I don’t think they are calling her a liar regarding the assault. They are saying that the allegation of the team interfering with the investigation is false.

We obviously don't really know what happened, he certainly may have slapped her.
But we know her credibility is in question.
And another quote from that interview she had that seems like a huge red flag is how willing she was to talk about how shocked she was at how quickly he found a new team after SF released him. Without knowing her history, maybe I don't notice it. But knowing her backstory, it really made it feel like she was insinuating that was her motive for going to the police, and she was disappointed when her attempt failed and he easily found a new team to play for.

It would be really dumb if her to start lying about things like this. If she's telling the truth about Foster, why put yourself in position to be called a liar about inconsequential things like this.

The 49ers didnt release Foster because they tought he was guilty, they released him because he was stupid enough to still be with this woman and bringing her to team hotels

I've been in a toxic relationship before. It's hard.
We're perfectly fine friends now but when we were dating, it was like we couldn't get out of each other's way. Everything was to an extreme, the good times and the bad.
It was like we were SO comfortable with each other that we were ok with being complete assholes to each other. Mostly because we knew we'd be great the next day and when we clicked it was wonderful.
I hope he didn't hit this chick. And I hope he can step back and realize how much he needs to get away from her.

She's saying the 49ers tried to intervene when she called the cops.
They're saying, "Girl, no the hell we did not."
Basically saying she lied about that.

That being said, his quote in the OP does very clearly imply that the 49ers said she was lying, so I'm not sure why quite a few posters replied stating that was not the case.
