Yeah but the playcalling was very weak. Not aggressive at all

It's difficult to be aggressive when the secondary is playing 20-30 yards back from the line of scrimmage. Their very first play of the drive went almost 30 yards because they took what the defense gave them and went underneath to Bush. They were only about 10 yards away from field goal range with eight seconds to play. Whatever design they had drawn up on that final play was dashed by Texas succeeding in getting two defensive linemen in the backfield almost as soon as the ball was snapped.

Coaches moved all the time for better opportunities. Players would've done the same if the constructs allowed them.

It’s their job. They worked 30 plus years to do what they want.

Players didn’t earn shite. They are entitled bums who have made the sport terrible since 2020

If another team gave Vince Young a better chance to put together a resume for the NFL, he would've left Texas for that path... as he should. College football is a tryout for the NFL.

Making up random scenerios doesn’t make you right. If Vince left. He would have not tried as hard as the following school and wouldn’t have put on the season and finale like he did in college football.

College football is worse in every way since 2020.

Very next sentence, makes up a scenario

Reggie Bush not even being on the field on that 4th and 1 was criminal.

Even split out wide as a decoy but White was always gonna be the option on that play under Carroll who basically put Bush in the doghouse in the 2nd half after Bush's playground lateral attempt that lost points, killed momentum and gave Texas life in the 1st Half.

White was rolling in the 2nd half and the 4th down play would've still succeeded but the left tackle totally whiffed on his block and a corner crashed the edge. Today they'd instant replay for measurement (it was inches) that play to death.

The criminal part was having a Booster walk-ons sons on the field on Texas' final drive (Ting Brothers, tiny Asians at Cornerbacks) , people forget, the game was gonna be over...Young floated a deep pass early in the drive that would've been a game-ending Interception but the Ting bro just batted it down instead of catching a pretty easy pick for any halfway decent Corner.

But OP is right, with today's dumping on tradition and players leaving left and right, this game will be held up forever as the glory days...Two Bluebloods, two Heisman winners on the field, a Heisman winner (any other year, except the Barry Sanders year) on the other side of the field, Keith Jackson's last game and the Granddaddy of them all. We didn't know it then but it was,CFBs Swan song.

The best part of that game was the month long lead up where ESPN compared USC directly to all of the greatest teams of all time to see where they ranked. Then they lost to Texas

College was something beautiful built on tradition over 100+ years and it was the greatest invention of all time until you guys and tv executives destroyed it the last 5 years.

If by “you guys” you mean the “adults” who refused to act in good faith for like 3 decades, I completely agree with you

College football (ie everyone but the players) sold their soul for money a long, long time ago

I wish we could go back to that 2003-2007 time frame for CFB.
