Are you referring to the grandstands that weren't there in 2025?

It’s been there the entire tournament. It is part of the course so it shouldn’t be called a temporary obstruction.

They do if it is a certainty that it landed in a TIO. I posted the rule but here it is again.

14 To get free relief for a lost ball in a Temporary Immovable Obstruction (TIO), it must be known or virtually certain the ball came to rest inside the TIO. If so, you are not penalized. Without this certainty, standard lost ball rules (stroke and distance) apply. The rule operates under Model Local Rule F-23, which details the following steps:

The best is how if you hit in a giant divot hole in the middle of the fairway you are just fricked

It’s so damn illogical

329 yards right down the middle. Here is the great birdie chance.

If Ryan Fox could screw off this could be an enjoyable finish

I’m pulling for Burns now.

I wouldn’t mind a playoff either.

But it's not part of the course. I'm with you guys in thinking TIO needs to be reworked, but grandstands are definitely not part of the course.

But a giant divot in the fairway that was made that day is a permanent part of the course?

My argument is that it IS part of the course for this tournament.
It’s not part of the course next week but for the purpose of the tournament it should be treated as “in play”
My argument isn’t with you, but the application of the rule.

ETA- exactly what Pride said. A divot that has been there an hour is okay but a million dollar grandstand is considered temporary

I'm assuming this is retorical, but I never made that argument.

I'd argue that completely getting rid of tio would make the tournament less exciting. Guys might not go for tucked pins because they could miss and end up next to a grandstand having to hit sideways just to get out. The shot wouldn't have been a huge miss, but now they're lucky to make a bogey.

We’ve derailed this enough. Time to pull for Burns to bring this home in between commercials

It seems very simple to fix this

You get relief from TIO, but you have to out your ball back into a similar lie

So Scottie gets relief from the TIL but has to go find a bush to bury it in
