My son who is 10 is a massive Bryson fan. It was very rough for me to have to block his YouTube channel from him. I just can’t let someone like him with his Middle East type of horrific morals have an effect on him
So brave.

He walked into the area and immediately started trampling behind the ball, then another time he took a huge step directly onto the clump in question.
No PGA, DPWT, Korn Ferry, Asian Tour, or LIV Golf professional player has been assessed a 2-stroke penalty under Rule 8.1a since 2018 when Phil Mickelson at Greenbrier self-reported himself. Prior to that there isn't a single documented case in professional golf history of a two-stroke penalty being called against any player. Bryson is the first where any golf league has assessed a penalty for this.

Well, this actually explains Bryson’s reaction. Seems much more reasonable now.

Also don't forget the Code of Conduct Warnings that have been issued this year. Only three players have received them: John Rahm today, Nieman (US Open), and Sergio Garcia (Masters). No other players on any other tour have received a Code of Conduct Warning in 2026 except LIV players.

Didn’t a guy get stroked for being late for his tee time just a few weeks ago?
Adam Scott got one for playing the wrong ball recently

Rule 8.1a is what Bryson was penalized for. Adam Scott was penalized for Rule 6.3.

Someone in this thread literally posted a video of a two stroke penalty that was assessed to Tiger woods

DJ was assessed a two stroke penalty at whistling straits in one of the most famous rulings. Tiger also got a 2 stroke penalty at the 2013 masters.
Both those cost those guys majors.
I mean damn man, MrLSU just says things. It’s hilarious.

I’m not against them penalizing Bryson but these dudes do shite like this all the time. What Clark did during the open was worse imo and nothing happened. They just pick and choose when they want to dock these dudes
Absolutely. You can bet your arse if that was Rory there would have been no penalty. Hell, they might have deemed that an endangered species area and given him a free drop in the fairway.

Tiger’s was about improper hazard relief/playing from the wrong place (Rule 26-1 + 20-7 + 33-7), DJ’s was about grounding the club in a bunker under a special local Rule 13-4.

Tiger Woods, Tiger fricking woods, has twice been penalized two strokes based on video review after the round

Craig Stadler. 1987 Andy Williams Open.
He didn’t want to get his white pants muddy when hitting a shot from his knees, so he laid a towel down, improving his stance.
2 shot penalty and since it was phoned in after the fact, he was also guilty of signing an incorrect scorecard and was DQ’ed.
Posted on 7/17/26 at 7:45 pm to lsupride87
He intentionally stomped the grass down. 2 stroke penalty. Move on. He did it.

At the 2013 Masters, Tiger Woods’ infamous drop on the 15th hole became one of golf’s most debated rules incidents. After his third shot hit the flagstick and rolled into the pond in front of the green, he chose to drop a ball and then play his next shot from a spot two feet farther from where he had played his third GOLF.com+1.
The Rules Involved
Rule 26-1 (now 17.1) – Governs water hazard relief. Woods attempted to drop in accordance with this rule, but by moving farther from his original position, he was not playing “as near as possible” to the spot where he had played his previous shot GOLF.com+1.

Rule 20-7 (now 14.7) – Prohibits playing from a wrong place. By dropping and playing from a spot not as near as possible to the original position, Woods violated this rule GOLF.com+1.
Rule 33-7 (now 17.1) – Allows a committee to waive disqualification if it failed to question a player at the scoring table
