So where do we think the cut ends up? Data golf has it most likely to land at +7

quote:Small sample size but Scotty had an 18 footer uphill yesterday, and I think it was Vik had a 7 footer downhill from the exact opposite side of the hole.
Thats cool. He is wrong too
Announcers captured the situation to perfection, explaining what we were about to see. Went as far to say Scotty literally can’t lose this putt no matter how aggressive he gets. Said he can just smash this thing and be fine while Vik was not looking at a realistic make.
Scotty smashed tf out of it dead center and Vik tickled a wobbly attempt that never had a chance.
Bryson is wrong if I had to guess.

On typical eight-footers, putt difficulty varies considerably depending on green contours. Fast fact: Uphill putts are easier than downhillers. The main reason uphillers are sunk at a higher rate is that they’re typically struck harder, so they don’t break as much and are less affected by gravity and green-reading errors. In fact, eight-foot uphill putts are sunk five percent more often than eight-foot downhill putts, on average. The steeper the slope, the more the uphill-downhill difference is magnified. Harder still are big, breaking, sidehill-downhill putts.
On steep slopes, eight-foot sidehill-downhillers are sunk almost 20 percent less frequently than their uphill-sidehill counterparts. That’s a huge difference! While the type of putt makes a difference, the primary factor that determines the difficulty of any putt is overall distance.

Bryson is 100x smarter than you especially when it comes to golf.
Funny you keep bringing this up as a gotcha

Bryson said what he did during a break 50 challenge with Garrett Clark. It was one of those moments where Bryson was trying to sound smart like he had defeated conventional wisdom with science. What he said made no sense. The actual data shows he's wrong on every level

They are debating, and saying that they can’t, whether a TEN handicap can break 200 at this setup.
I think the handicap they were using was an 18. The only argument that made any sense is you’d have to put them on the same tees and with no spotters. This would make some fairways impossible for them to hit and lead to a ton of lost balls. It’s more of a distance argument than an overall handicap argument.

Bravo to the course for being extremely hard but also fair in certain areas.
Decent amount of birdies being thrown around but plenty of bogeys and doubles on everyone's card like you like to see in an Open.

Course is really testing the players today. Guys seemingly playing well then all of a sudden three holes later they are over par for the day.

The only thing he has going for him is that he is playing on the back 9 now. All the guys that tore it up this morning started on the back. That double was definitely not optimal though

Showing projected cut at +4 but no way it stays there.
