I’d rather just watch the 2008 final round

If memory serves me correctly, he had surgery to repair his acl the following week. Truly incredible.

I just googled it. He was playing with a torn ACL and two stress fractures in his tibia…AND he had to play the final and playoff rounds.

I can appreciate it now more than then because I had Tiger fatigue. He was so damn good he just dominated everything and was the center of every broadcast. You just expected him to do that kind of stuff.
Now after watching normal golfers for a decade it’s obvious how much better he was.

I forgot how much I hated Lee Westwood’s smug English face

Remember when Retief Goosen said he was faking it? lol

How much money could someone have made betting Tiger will go a decade without winning a major? As of this tournament there’s no way anyone would have believed that.

In Steve Williams's' book that came out recently he talks about on how in the 72nd hole he talked Woods out of hitting a 56 and instead a 60 degree to get more spin out of the rough.
Imagine the balls to do that.

Is there going to be time to finish the round?

Blows my mind that 2008 was almost the last rodeo with Tiger. I was in 8th grade. Class went to an amusement park for the end of the school year on Monday like the last week. Have fun all day. Kind of aware of US open because my family always watched all the majors and golfed.
We have a charter bus with satellite tv. Most of the 13 year olds couldn’t give a shite. But me, the middle aged bus driver, and like one other classmate were all in cheering and going wild for Tiger. Such a fun memory.

Probably yes but not time for a playoff. If they tee off at 540p there will be just over 3 hours of daylight.

If they cut this off early I’ll be actually upset

They better fast forward to the putt if there isn’t enough time

I’m sure this has been discussed, but I haven’t been able to tune in today. Just peeping the leaderboard every now and then. But if they have to finish tomorrow and it ends in a tie, do they start the 18-hole playoff almost immediately like they do the other majors that are sudden death or 3-holes (The Open is still 3 holes, right?) or do they give the guys a longer break and risk running into a Tuesday finish?
ETA—even if this particular tourney doesn’t wind up applying and they’re able to finish today, what is the rule in that hypothetical situation? I don’t remember a U.S. Open ever finishing on a Monday and in a tie. I just wondered if there’s a hard rule on how much time they have to give the guys to rest before the playoff, (do they recut the holes or play it the same as the final round?), how late they can start, is there a maximum number of holes they can play in a day, etc…or are they able to be flexible depending on the unique situation?

They don’t do 18 hole playoff anymore. I think it’s 2 hole aggregate so they would do it immediately

They should just replay all the great Tiger moments during delays or..every Sunday
