Scottie’s putting has not been good

Shocking how poorly he has been off the tee and on the greens. Still only +3, still has a chance to turn it around

With how difficult I think it’s going to play on the weekend, he could easily go low early tomorrow and put himself in the top 10 as everyone else goes backwards.

Especially if it’s soft. Berger and Finau did that at Shinnecock a few years ago on Saturday.

But I’m feeling something with Spieth here.

I’ve only seen a few putts of his but it seems like he’s loving the speed. Especially with the long putts.

ETA: I feel more at ease during his attempts here than I have in months.

I wonder if the PGA incident isn't still affecting him mentally. It was embarrassing for a guy that's so low-key that people pull against him for having no personality. But more than that, you know that he thinks he would have won it were it not for that and should be playing this week for the 3rd leg of the calendar slam.

The best golfers have a crazy ability to put things behind them and just focus on the next shot--and he may be the best in the world at that right now--but you know somewhere it's gotta still be eating at him. I bet his arse is still a good bit chapped and it may be affecting his play this week. Or it could just be the U.S. Open. Not sure if even he knows. But one of the great things about the Open is that you're usually just an early round Saturday 65 from being right back in it and the field will come back to you as the pressure mounts in the afternoon.

Spieth is in his own head. I have a hard time seeing him winning a major anytime soon.

Has Scottie made a putt over 5 feet? His putting has been so bad. He's not even close on his misses either.

He won last week at the Memorial and finished 2nd in the Charles Schwab after the PGA.

I feel like it’s just execution at this point. A halfway decent putter and he’d be at +1 instead of +3.

Well he did finish 2nd & 1st in his 2 events since then, so he’s probably over it

Oh same.

He just seems relaxed this week and he has the game to take advantage of this setup.

Wide fairways, need imagination, tough around and on the greens.

It looks like he’s got the speed down.

I could see a top 5 this week if he doesn’t melt like he usually does.

Am I the only one who like Terrell Hatton, but kinda hopes for him to have what just happened with him hitting the flag and ending up in the bunker just to see the potential blow up?

Ok... probably a dumb question... but as things stand now, is Scheffler in danger of missing the cut? Tied for 59th? And they take top 60?

A couple more bogeys and it could be close. The afternoon wave still has to go so the average is going to be over par and the cut line will go up. Top 60 and ties make the weekend.

He’s in danger, yes.

But if he stays at +3 there’s a 98%+ chance he makes it. Will most likely make it at +4 too.

Idk about +5 or how brutal it’s going to get later in the day. I wanna say +5 is in play but I’m not sure.

No. Only about a 10-15% chance the cut stays at +3 according to Data Golf.

More likely it’s at +4 or +5.
