That’s not going to happen and it shouldn’t. Winning your conference should matter.

The BCS standings would have 11 of the 12 teams in.

One of those sec teams lost 24-3 to a team without a winning record….

Stop pretending anyone left out didn’t also suck

The optics of putting four SEC teams at 1-4 some year would be terrible.

Exactly. If Bama lost 35-14 today, we all would have said they didn't deserve to be there based on what happened at Oklahoma.

Conferences aren’t giving up the money maker that is conference championship games, and there will never be 12 deserving teams.

I’m completely fine with these playoffs. No “deserving” team was left out.

We all knew it....everyone knew it....this isn't College basketball..... The regular season in CFB reveals itself....

These playoffs are just a stupid Do-over to reconfirm what we already knew.

What a waste of time and interest in balderdash.

How is it not working? Is one team not winning?

I'm absolutely fine with it. It would have gotten both Florida St. and Georgia in last year.

Now if you want to say 8 is better than 12 - whatever, either is better than 4 IMHO.

You just don’t want Bama to win. That is what you care about.

Bama kept Bama out this year.

If they win either one of the Vandy or OU games they are likely playing today.

Same with Ole Miss.

If we’re gonna kill some bowl games and/or have players opt out of bowl games it should at least be 16 teams. Yes, realistically only 3 or 4 of those will have the best chance to win it all. Look at the FCS with 24 team playoff. The same 3 or 4 teams compete for the championship every year. The rest are window dressing

they need to remove the automatic byes for conference champs

This is the main problem. But I understand why this won’t happen.

I kinda wish they’d add a top 8/top 10 qualifier to it. If they did that I think it would work out at least a little better.

Top 5 conference champs guaranteed entry. Top 4 guaranteed bye if in the top 8/10. If not you get ranked where you fall but get to host the game (just so there’s some sort of middle ground).

Lets say the qualifier was top 10 this year would’ve been 1) Oregon, 2)Georgia, 3)Boise, 4)Texas

12) Clemson @ 5)Penn State (probably a better matchup than what we got today on both ends)

6) Notre Dame @ 11) Arizona State (probably a better matchup than what we got last night)

10) SMU @ 7) Ohio State (lol)

9) Indiana @ 8) Tennessee (lol)

Feel like this at least lines up maybe slightly more favorably for Oregon.

Bad news for you, because it’ll probably move to 14 teams in 2 years.
