I think the split has magnified the majors (especially the Masters being the most prestigious and first of the year) where the fields are unified but hurt the other PGA events quite a bit. And nobody is watching LIV. It’s overall terrible for the sport I think

Didn’t LIV buy the PGA tour? I still don’t understand what the hell is going on here.

PIF & PGA agreed to work on a merger. They never finalized anything & negotiations are still on going. They set a deadline for end of 2023, extended that deadline & hoped to finalize by March-April. Still hasn’t happened

In the meantime, PGA got $3B from an additional investor so who knows what that means for the PIF/PGA deal

I still don’t know why we are talking about an article from a free rag newspaper that admits it can’t verify any of its claims

The guardian report on Viktor is legit news. This simply isn’t

They can’t verify it, but it came from 2 different sources. Rory’s former agent talked about him making a move to LIV months ago. There’s obviously some truth to the claims

He said “If LIV was the last place on earth to play golf, then I’d retire”

No, there isn’t. Rory straight denied the chubby claims after joking about it

This “news source” is the equivalent to a trash rag in America. It isn’t a real news source at all. I honestly don’t know why so many people are trying to actually run with this

I don't follow golf much, but what are LIV tournaments like? I've never actually heard or seen a LIV event.

Like any normal tournament with some of the best players in the world playing against each other. Shotgun start is a little different, but not that big of a deal

Those comments led his former manager, Chubby Chandler, to even speculate McIlroy is paving the way for a PGA Tour defection.

But in an interview with ESPN's Marty Smith on Wednesday at Bay Hill, McIlroy once again shot down those rumors. And in emphatic fashion.

“It’s not for me. I’m too much of a traditionalist,” McIlroy told Smith. “I love winning golf tournaments and looking at the trophy and seeing that Sam Snead won this trophy or Ben Hogan or Gene Sarazen or Jack Nicklaus or Gary Player, Tiger Woods or Nick Faldo, whoever it is, the people that came before me. That to me is a big deal in our game. If we were to all put our heads together and be like, ‘Okay, what can we do to all come back together and move forward and be a little more cohesive?’ Then I would sort of be for that.”

Here you go Jim

maybe i look at this different as my grand father worked for Saudi Aramco for a long time, but no way i wouldnt take a deal that 5-10x my salary.

Sounds similar to the things Rahm said a couple years ago. None of that “denies” the claims from Chubby

I think it has a lot to do with how outspoken Rory was against LIV and the players that chose to join LIV. He was harsh in the things he said. It would be humorous to now see Rory join LIV after everything he said.

Doesn't have to be Alfalfa to LIV to continue the collateral damage. I see several big names added to the PGA casualty figures.
