Any rumors?

People in twitter world claiming they should call Crean immediately.

If i was them, go get another Xavier Head coach in there.

He has serious back issues so there have been retirement rumors for the last few years

I remember there was a time where it seemed like he was getting the top 1-3 recruit in the nation every year - Oden, Mullens, Sullinger, etc.

it helped that they were all from Ohio. But I see your point, he's been whiffing on in state talent since that peak.

Sounds like he was indeed fired

Veiled shot at Indiana fans, or delusion? My radar is wonky today.

I would say because of money and in state talent, Ohio State will have at least 100 coaches answer the phone and at least listen. I would start with:

Shocka Smart - Texas (Went to college in Ohio, has Ohio ties)
Greg Marshall - Wichita St
Sean Miller - Coached at Ohio State
Chris Collins - Northwestern
Bob Huggins - West Virginia (Ohio Native)
Chris Mack - Xavier
Mick Cronin - Cincinnati

....and Lebron James (Why not lol)

shite youre right, i forgot oden and conley were from Indiana. My bad. They were on that AAU team with McRoberts. it still begs the question of how his recruiting fell off so badly. One tweet I read suggested poor recruiting was part of the reasoning for this ousting.

Shaka would be possible, but not cause of money or in-state recruiting prospects.

Huggins, Marshall & Miller - lolz

Mack, Cronin, Collins - best candidates, in that particular order.

Oh, now this is interesting. Amazing that Matta is only 49.

Had to Google this to believe it. Holy shite. I've always assumed he was in his 60s

Health. Both negative recruiting, and just how having a bad back affects everything you do.

They were recruiting the Midwest like prime Indiana. Seemed like it fell off when Illinois hired Groce. Matta also probably isn't as invested in recruiting with his health problems.

We'll get a midmajor guy and how for the best.

I highly doubt we get any established names, but it's worth a try

My buddy really wants Dan Muller from Illinois State.
