I don’t know a single “moderate” or “centrist” that believes in apologizing for their white skin but maybe wildtigersguy runs in different circles in Austin.

Republicans and Dems post Reagan run up until the Trump era on essentially the same economic platforms, with a veiled mask of culture war issues to give you the illusion of choice. End of the day they will serve the same corporations and donors when in office that make everyone else’s life a living hell
Republicans post Tea party have shifted very far right in their economic and cultural framing and has lead to the entire face of the party changing. Dems have been much slower to react to this on the ground dissatisfaction with our political system, and it’s just now starting to sprout their own version of that shift in the political spectrum. And centrist Dems (that 98 percent I talk about) are doing everything they possibly can to prevent that, and have fought harder to their left and to their right, because at the end of the day they are on the same team as the right. Just wear a different jersey for you to root for depending on how you feel on a handful of issues that’ll never affect your bottom line in a meaningful way.

Even if this were true, is that somehow worse than a wolf in wolf’s clothing?
Paxton is just openly corrupt and a scumbag and operates in a state that will give him the influence to do more and worse damage. Even if Talarico wins, he’s very limited in what he can do or effect policy wise in a hard line republican controlled state. I’m not sure where you saw me say anything about welfare, but our country currently gets a huge benefit from these type of folks paying taxes and not receiving those benefits. But mainly yes most folks have an idea of immigration meaning a dignified process where people can come and contribute to our country and take a path to gain full time citizenship. And there are plenty of folks doing so and have done so over the history of our country

I would guess that thread is probably from 7-10 years ago at this point so good memory
but yeah I’ve taken a long political journey from complete non involvement to where I am now, and while I don’t really post at nearly the frequency I used to, I think my posts over time would probably show that change in direction over the years. Part of getting older I guess. Started posting on here when I was like 17 so probably a lot of opinions under my name here that I wouldn’t agree with today but I would not say I’m a liberal. So just based off his own words.....he supports progressive transgender policies and open border policies, wants to defund ICE, think Christian Nationalist are a cancer to Christianity, wants to kill the filibuster and wants court reform, and wants Medicare-for-All.
You don't live in Texas. You shouldn't speak for Texas. But as an actual Texan, ....those aren't moderate positions in Texas. Not even close. Those are positions you'd expect from the radical progressive wing of the Democratic Party in NY, California, Washington, Oregon, etc.

I'm not arguing that at all, it's why Jorn Cornyn got his doors blown off. He no longer represents the modern Conservative voters in his district.
