re: Texas A&M to SEC talks heating up?

I love the idea of adding the Aggies, but I'm nervous about OU. Not that I have a problem with OU, but I don't want them to bring in their tag alongs. If it can't be just OU, I think we should pass and try and add VT or Clemson.

SEC West
OU
A&M
OSU
Mizzou
LSU
Arkansas
Ole Miss
Mississippi St.
A one loss team should get an automatic bid to the NC Game Jesus.

and that's the West... the East would be just as tough, if not tougher.
the East would have:
Florida
Auburn
Alabama
Tennessee
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky
Vandebilt

Why? LSU and OU would run that division. Its really not that impressive.

The thing I hate about this though is that a 3 loss team in one of those divisions should be a BCS bowl game berth, but they will still have automatic qualifiers for the Big Least and someone like Boise State or Utah will always be up in there as well. With those divisions, the SEC should be getting 3 BCS berths out of it
I would find it hard to see any team go undefeated or 1 loss in divisions like that

The East is definitely tougher in that scenario.

Once I figure out which one is which, I'll get back to you.

That division is much easier than the current SEC West

If the SEC is truly set on expansion, this:

agreed.. A&M and either FSU or Clemson..
OU, OSU and especially Missouri need to stay the frick away..

I would be all for elimination of the "2 conference teams in the BCS" limit and give the MWC an autobid. I can't imagine a team from Sunbelt, CUSA MAC or WAC (if it still exists) would be getting multiple bids like we've seen from TCU, Utah & Boise St.

SEC West: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri
From Baton Rouge:
Oklahoma - 10 hours
Oklahoma State - 11 hours
Missouri - 12 hours
and I thought the trip to Little Rock was far. Especially tough for those of us in SEC country that live around Atlanta.

and how far is to Columbia or Knoxville from BR?
Posted on 1/26/11 at 11:57 am to Ball Gravy
OSU, OU and especially Mizzou would not fit well in the SEC
I can see a smooth transition with TAMU, especially geographically
TAMU would no doubt get destroyed in football for a while, but they are solid in basketball and baseball
