In the NFL the RB can't duck his head though. It's so screwy

Oh, I know. Which, at that point, how is it even a contact sport anymore?

It's awful and NFL
So I can't shite on one or the other(NCAA vs NFL).

The NFL doesn't kick guys out for targeting. Which, is fantastic.

But their targeting is basically touching a QB's head, and falling as a rusher...but still trying to make a play while being on the ground. Basically touching a QB's legs.

All of the above are fricking maddening.

After reading this thread, I'm pretty shocked by the stance you took on this.

The frickin defenders just can't do anything I guess. There was nothing malicious about that tackle, the runner lowers his head!!

Oh, and here's my question for all the geniuses out there: WHAT MAKES THAT BALL CARRIER DEFENSLESS?!?!

Read the rule and tell me how that ball carrier is "defenseless". Was he giving himself up? I don't know. I can't judge his intent.

Stupid call.

Why wasn't the Syracuse qb ejected for targeting? Closelinig a player and ripping their helmet off so their head and neck are twisted around is just as dangerous.

When he went low, was it with shoulder or helmet?

Either way, it is ridiculus to eject a player based on assumption of intent.

i've argued for years that if the offensive player creates helmet to helmet, he should be ejected

They are in high school but I've only seen it called once.

If runner doesn't lower his head that is a shoulder to the waist/chest tackle.

that angle is bad b/c it doesn't show this

the defender was going to hit torso with shoulder

the offensive player moves into his helmet

for argument's sake, let's say his head was lowered enough for it to be a potential "Crown" hit. the angle of the hit was still shoulder until the offensive player moved into the path of the helmet, creating the "crown" hit

EITHER way, this is 100% on the offensive player

e did not lead with the crown of his helmet. He led with his right shoulder and his head to outside of the runner. Exactly like he should have done.

The call was awful.
