I have literally nothing(yet), to back this up...but I think they clamp down on hits on camera more.

Replays will show some kid in the background getting half his head scalped, with no call.

But you better believe a questionable call on camera is getting reviewed. And not just reviewed, confirmed.

Is there a link to the call that OP is centered around?

i don't get how these ticky tack targeting calls are an ejection, but 'cuse's QB ripping the williams' head off is just a regular penalty

Omg who lowers his head to initiate the hit. He hit him with the crown

It doesn't matter where he hits him if hits with crown

He wasn't targeting the ball carriers head though. He was leading with his shoulder and the helmet to helmet contact occurred because the OFFENSIVE player initiated it by lowering HIS head.

The defender was making a legal tackle.

The OFFENSIVE player initiated the hit to the helmet, not the defender.

If we are going to call this bull shite in the "name of safety", then offensive players should be called for it too.

THAT should have been an ejection and an attempted murder charge.

It isn't about hitting him in the head if the leading crown is used

It's not a legal tackle if you lower or lead with crown

The NCAA rule is much more stringent and not just helmet to helmet

I don't get what you are arguing. If the offensive player doesn't lower his head creating head to head contact the UCLA player isn't ejected.

That was a near perfect form tackle had the runner not lowered his head.

The UCLA player lowers his head watch

It becomes leading w crown why he got toss d

Once he lowered his head they're calling it targeting. Especially in Pac 12

I'll go look right now.

And thanks Geaux for pointing out where the link is(I apparently looked over it).

But if described correctly, I'm fine with the call. We can't judge intent.

But THERE IS A RULE in place. Crown of the helmet is just a no-no. I'll go look at that call.

But shite. The UF kid kept his head up and tried to avoid ^^^^^^ that exact call. It was full on runner going down and UF player keeping his head up and face mask making contact.

There are a few calls that video might not confirm. This rule shouldn't be disputable most of the time.

And that's not even my point.

TARGETING IS CONFIRMED SO OFTEN THAT I THINK IT THERE IS ROOM TO MAKE A SUIT AGAINST IT.

He got tossed because the helmets collided. If the Stanford player doesn't lower his head it's a picture perfect form tackle. It happens in every single game multiple times.

It's why football sucks now.

The sport has committed the worst sin you can committ.

Being unreliable and non-consistent.

(and also crazy in regards to rules and officiating)

I don't love the call. And this is a bad screenshot. But by rule, its targeting.

Crown of the helmet is obvious and it breaks the rule.
