The University of Tennessee is under NCAA investigation for multiple “major” NIL violations across the athletic department, according to SI’s Pat Forde.

“The University of Tennessee is immersed in another NCAA investigation of potential rules violations that is ‘major’ in nature, sources tell Sports Illustrated,” Forde wrote. The case involves multiple sports and includes scrutiny of name, image and likeness (NIL) benefits for athletes.”

Just last summer, Tennessee was penalized for more than 200 rules infractions in the football program. Now, there is reportedly more to come.

I feel like this is less about blatant abuses but more about the NCAA trying to make up of the lack of guardrails and imposing retroactive justice.

Maybe instead of giving the kid $2 million, they bought him a hamburger like Harbaugh, which is a no-no.

NIL will eventually be replaced by a CBA.

Pat Forde is such a hack.

There is nothing to this "report"

If the NCAA heavily sanctions Tennessee they’ll just sue the NCAA and the NCAA will increase their court case losing streak.

You’ll see articles like this and then they will come to an agreement with Tennessee and give them a slap on the wrist

Has the NCAA lost an NIL case yet?

Because it seems pretty clear cut. If a player gets paid for "name, image, likeness", but there's no record of that actually being done, that's not NIL.

Everyone is doing same thing

Glad to see Forde doing some work outside re-writing his Will Wade story once a month.

NCAA is toothless. If Tennessee is smart they’ll shut up and not answer any questions.

It’s pretty clear NIL deals can’t be related to on field performance.

If Gordon gave Jayden Daniels $10k for every TD, that would be illegal.
