I bet you were an NLU fan back when John David Crowe was roaming the sidelines watching John Floyd make circus catches
Ole Sidewinder was the coach when I started at Northeast. Thank God, Coors beer came along and got Crow and Pat Collins got his head coaching chance. Thank you Tech for fricking Pat over.

Can't argue with you on this one. The people of Monroe suck when it comes to supporting ULM. It is going to take some MAJOR improvements for them to return back to Malone in force. Or maybe a Tech game???
Exactly right. Which is why Tech doesn't want to play them. Why create your own competition?

Simple little questionaire for you:
1. Which would you rather do?
-- a) Watch ULM play Arkansas State in person.
-- b) Stay at home and listen to LSU and Ole Miss on the radio.
2. Which would you rather do?
-- a) Watch ULM play Arkansas State in person.
-- b) Watch LSU play Ole Miss on tv.
There's a lot to deduce from that.
I'm not a ULM or LSU fan, so I would be at Aillet Stadium.
But if you want to know where I would be if Tech was playing Arkansas State and LSU was playing Ole Miss, it would be watching Tech in person.
I can't understand why someone would pull for a school that they never attended. This only seems to happen in college (not high school, junior high, or elementary). Baffling to me.

You're Louisiana fricking Tech. Your trailer park has a neon sign, and you're stuck up.

If you grow up the fan of a particular school but don't get the opportunity to go there why would you quit being a fan of that team.
I was born in Louisiana and grew up an LSU fan. Lived in Mississippi for seven years. My mom got two degrees from Miss. St. while we lived there and I went to a lot of games and pulled for State but not when they played LSU. I was there long enough to develope a hatred for Ole Miss!
We ended up moving back to Louisiana and I went to LSU as a freshman. If we had stayed in Mississippi and I had gone to State, I still would have stayed an LSU fan. it is just in my blood.

That's not elitism. I didn't go to school at LSU, so I don't consider them to be "my school."
Why would you rather watch LSU on TV than go to a ULM game?

quote:Depends on the game. I'd rather go see ULM/ULL than watch LSU/Vandy, especially when I can Tivo it.
Why would you rather watch LSU on TV than go to a ULM game?
But, I'd rather watch LSU/Florida than go to ULM/Wofford.
Because of this, state schools should take any and every opportunity to play home games on days other than Saturday.
I think it would be a big hit if ULM and Tech played on Labor Day every year.

I bet if you would have gone to State, you would have become a State fan. Your buddies in LA would have ragged you for losing in football to LSU. You would try to come to LA to watch the Tigers and they would ridicule you for not being at "your school." Then State would beat LSU and you would feel some pride. Your friends would tell you how "State got lucky." Then "BOOM" all of sudden, you despise LSU.

That's not elitism? (and you're not even an LSU alum). Maybe LSU should play on Friday and the other 10 shcools get to play on Saturday?

LSU plays at Bama on 11/7; Tech plays Boise State on 11/6. SMART decision. They'll get a bigger crowd specifically because their schedule doesn't coincide with LSU's on that day.

I was the guy wearing the LSU shirt in elementary school and junior high in Mississippi. I was the guy who made sure they all knew I was all LSU. It was my "Red Badge of Courage". Any friends of mine from Louisiana would have known I was still an LSU fan. Hell, I would have worn an LSU shirt in the MSU stadium every other year when LSU came in.
I have a degree from NLU but would never pull for them if they play LSU in football. Who gives a crap about a school like NLU or Tech winning in football when LSU is right here. Let NLU/ULM have their watersking national championships and let Tech have their dominate women's basketball program but damn, son, LSU is the only college football team in town.

Right now they are. I know you've suffered through alot of miserable seasons with the Tigers. Tech had a couple of teams in the 90's that would have beat LSU (IMO). But I don't pull for Tech because they are or are not the best in the state.... it's where I went to school.

I am 50 years old. Charlie Mac and Charles Alexander were at LSU in 1977 when I started school there. The six straight losing seasons LSU had in the nineties were rough but it is probably comparable to your couple of good seasons Tech had. LSU never had more than two losing seasons in a row before those six dark seasons. No matter where one lives or where one went to school, it is easy being an LSU fan.

Tech is playing Boise on 11/6 because ESPN picked up that game, thus moving it from Saturday to Friday. Nothing to do with LSU. Tech isn't going to schedule according to when LSU plays. Also, the bigger crowd will be from playing a top 10 team on a nationally broadcast game. Nothing to do with LSU.

I know it's your opinion, but I doubt it. But you never know. I'm assuming your talking about 97-98 teams with Rattay and Edwards. Those were good teams. But you probably didn't have the depth to compete with LSU even then. Tech would have had their best opportunity ever to beat LSU had they played then. Now it will never happen. LSU's success has made all the state schools suffer recruiting wise and attendence wise.

Tech had the depth to beat SEC champs Bama in '99 so they probably could have at least made a game of it with us...

Can't argue with you there. But playing LSU is different.
