he should be playing SS, but then he just becomes Roy Williams...

The NFL combine uses a mixture of partial electronic timing and fully hand held.
They have 3 guys holding stopwatches, 1 of which is stopped electronically, but started by hand.
The NFL teams are given all 3 watches to make their scouting report on.

That might be a good fit for him

he would have been better off going into the draft last year ....stock down this year

USC players are notorious for skipping the NFL combine and just attend USC's proday so they can rig up the times.

Like I've said, the Oakland Raiders will make him a very rich man by taking him at least 15 spots ahead of where he should go.

Never been impressed with Mays. His status has been ridden since he was a recruit, and has never lived up tot he hype. His speed is over exaggerated btw. Has to be, if not he is loafing.

True......
I remember they were saying the same kind of things about Bing, when he came out. Now he is playing LB. I am not a fan of the 220-230lb safety. I think the game has changed, and they have no place in today's football. I think he will get exposed in the NFL.

There isn't much rigging can be done at a pro day...
NFL teams bring their own stop watches and time players themselves.
They do the same at the combine. National Scouting is the company that supplies the NFL teams with the results of those 3 watches in the 40, as well as other events, but the teams still have their own scouts there Witt clocks as well
many teams use the info National Scouting provides. Many teams ignore it completely and use their own times.
Same thing at pro days

maybe not, but it's funny nobody ever runs as fast as they say they do at the Combine, CJ excluded.
We heard for a couple years that Harvin was supposed to run a 4.1. Only to see him run a solid 4.4 at the combine. Most of these 40 times are myths.

Technically no...But some tracks and surfaces they run on can be a faster track, opposed to the combine or other schools.

3-4 OLB at best IMO.
and OLB in a 3-4?? so he's gonna go from safety to basically a pass rushing LB??? gonna have to gain about 20 lbs. would be better suited a a mlb in the 3-4 of a natural 4-3 OLB

He bites hard on every double move. He'll get roasted over and over in the NFL
He got hype making big hits because he could get away with bad angles playing behind 4 NFL starting LBs and an NFL starting safety.

He's just like Laron. Big hitter, freak athlete, but gets out of position and lacks ball skills.

Touché... I didn't think about that. The surfaces definitely could boost times as well as some others.
And I agree alot of those times are bs. But remember, those times from pro days are coming from info put out by the schools.
So from a pr standpoint they can definitely boost times for their players but the reality is the NFL teams aren't paying attention to what those guys are putting out as they are doing their own scouting.
Remember mike vick was said to have run a 4.18 at vt in their spring workouts or something. The guy can fly no doubt, but that is ridonkulous

thats who he reminds me of. However, don't forget Bing is only 6'0, or 6'1 Mays is 6'2 or 6'3

he is about 6'2.
The point is, the game has little use for huge safeties these days. It's more important to be able to cover, then to shore up the run. 220-230 lbs is a lot to change direction without slowing down a lot. That is just too heavy IMO.
