Eh take out the Marlins games and his ERA is around 5.

Not saying he wouldn’t be one for the top 4, but hasn’t been great either

It’s hard to believe that Newk got sent down and is in bullpen, Folty got sent down and isn’t great, Gaus sent down and released, and Fried and Teheran have been so so, and we have a 6 game lead

Since the calender flipped to May Julio has made 20 starts.

He's given up

0 ER in 7
1 ER in 6
2 ER in 3
3 ER in 1

Then 3 nightmares sprinkled in.

Dude has been absolutely outstanding for most of the season.

Gausman has pitched 5 scoreless innings in his last 3 relief appearances for Cincy. In that span, he has given up 1 H, 2 BB and 9 K.

Kind of annoying that we never tried him in the pen.

ETA: He also threw an immaculate inning (2nd of his career) in his last appearance.

A bunch of us on this board thought that his stuff would play up in the pen

Since May he has 20 starts. If you insist on taking away his 4 starts against Miami then I insist we remove 3 the outlier terrible starts 2 vs NYM 1 @ CHC.

That leaves 13 starts since May to look at. In those 13 starts his ERA is 2.25

At the very worst, he would have been a better innings eater than Tomlin.

For comparison if we remove March / April, All starts vs Miami, and his 3 worst starts since May then Mike Soroka has a 2.01 ERA over 13 starts

If we remove all of his starts, he has an ERA of 0.00

If we're assessing Julio's position in the postseason on season ERA thats just beyond stupid.

His ERA is inflated because he had a bad first month and change and 3 bad starts in the last 4 months.

Nobosy should give a shite what happened in March or April when making any significant assessment or decision at this point of the season.

And when a guy has been lights out in the majority of his starts and damn solid in most of the rest I think he can have a pass for 3 bad games out of 20.

99% of starting pitchers are going to put up 3 clunkers out of 20.

To be fair, he hit that homer a mile. I knew that was gone before the camera angle changed. It wasn't close like the one on Sunday was.

Camargo long homer (left handed) tonight for Gwinnett.

.455/.478/.682 since going down.

Good numbers and I'm interested to see how he responds when he's back in 2 weeks, but I just feel like he is such a headcase right now. I'm not giving up on him as being a valuable depth piece in the future, but as for this upcoming postseason, I don't really see a role for him on this team, assuming everyone is healthy.

Hecchavaria has the better glove off the bench and Culberson, Joyce, Riley and even Duvall I trust more at the plate in a high stakes postseason pinch hit opportunity.

Do we think Ronald gets to 40/40 this year? He should definitely have the HRs. SBs will be close.

He should easily get 40+ HR. He is on pace for 46.

SB is interesting. He is hurt by the beginning of the season. He only had 2 SB in the first 42 games of the season (and he only attempted 3 during that time). However in the last 86 games he has 27 SB (but in the last 9 he only has 1 SB so his pace has actually slowed down again).

I think that he only gets 40 if he and the team make it a specific focus. Hopefully he gets a couple extra days off the last month which will make it even tougher.

I'd love to see 40/40 but I'd also rather see him save some legs for the playoffs as well.

Thinking back before 1st pitch of the season I don't think anyone predicted Braves to repeat as East champs.

people were too busy bitching about the braves "not doing anything" and "being cheap". AA told us exactly what he planned on doing with the payroll flexibility, and he delivered. Folks just chose to ignore or not believe him.
