And it's the fact that nobody can fricking stay healthy. The political bs will eventually blow over one day and all we'll be left with is a league where every fricking star player has a torn ACL.
And to compound on this issue, the NFL has attempted to combat it with tougher rules, but that's not the answer apparently. These athletes need to be held more accountable for doing what needs to be done from a training, nutrition, rest standpoint to properly protect themselves from injury. Hopefully we see a decrease in gauranteed money next CBA

True.

The NFL's issues are numerous.

Health
Shitty QB play
Referees/penalties
Kneeling
Boring defenses

They should schedule better games for prime time slots, these recent Thursday, Sunday and Monday night games have been absolutely atrocious and boring AF

Players are too big, too strong, too explosive and now the game is being played more in an open fashion, away from where the ball is snapped. I truly think the connective tissue in these guys simply can't tolerate the open field cutting and starting/stopping with the power in which their muscles contract.

I'd love to see data on the prevalence of ligament l, tendon injuries when it was a game played more between the tackles with smaller players vs now.

True:

Erin Andrews is aging at an alarming rate, and a suitable replacement has yet to be identified.

Very true. The kneeling just amplified their problems.

The biggest problem is that no one knows what a catch is anymore. It changes every game.

It's true that the NFL clearly has other problems.

But the insinuation that other leagues all don't have very similar problems is incorrect. CFB has the same or even worse problems. The NBA has problems. The MLB has problems.

Not anywhere close to the problems that the NFL has. #1 being injuries. Especially the NBA. There are very few catastrophic injuries.

shite even the NHL has way less season ending injuries than football.

That's not the NFL's biggest problem.

The biggest problem is that the NFL has stopped listening to its customer base because it convinced itself that the customers will accept whatever product is on the field.

It has been a delayed reaction, but a lot of NFL fans are truly questioning if it's worth it.

Everything that the NFL has done wrong from a PR standpoint that didn't immediately affect the bottom line is contributing to the falloff in viewership.

The biggest issues, IMO, the super focus on player safety at the expense of the game, the extreme move towards a pro-offensive rule interpretation, poor officiating on the field, entrance into political arena by players/teams, and the willingness to be the arbiter of justice for off-field issues. Combine that with the very high cost of attendance and people are deciding that they just aren't as interested as they used to be.

No, I agree. The injury problem is bigger in football than other sports.

How about this for a problem: the NFL, even with ratings down, is still crushing those sports. Big problem!

In a way we'd probably be better off if no replays were shown of catches and the ref's decision on the field was just left alone.

The ratings between NBA/MLB (which play 82/162 games) against the NFL which plays 16 games is impossible to conflate.

Not to mention MLB is much more of a regional sport. It's also the strongest sport in America on a regional level. By a good distance.

True.

It's so bad that they are ripe to be replaced as the most popular pastime.

Problem is that no one is positioned to do so.

Baseball is too long and boring for the ADHD crowds.
Hockey is too confusing.
Basketball is just the cavs vs the warriors.
Soccer is a kids sport.

Football is still King buying only because the others don't have what it takes to win. Kind of like the US stock market value the other countries markets.

Cord cutting is another issue that will have to be addressed sooner rather than later. ESPN is getting all the attention from it but cord cutters affect every network. We'll have to see if the NFL truly embraces streaming options or once again neglects to listen to their customer base

I agree with this.
