Can he take Sonny Cumbie out back and do that please?

I was just told that IF SBC makes a move post TSU, it will be LaTech and WKU….to appease the eastern teams.
Travel is the #1 decision point in the new non power world.
SBC may not make a move….
The Ruston support base has been humbled - the days of clearly being separated from ULx died with the collapse of the WAC and CUSA. There seems to be overwhelming support from the booster base (rich and poor) for an SBC invite should it come.
Say what you want about Tech’s fan base, they are loyal to the core and want way more than maybe their university can afford….sorta can’t blame them for that….. it today’s environment has them back to reality.

Not really. No chance of the playoffs and travel for your entire athletic program gets upended
Boise was just in the playoffs this year as a member of the MWC. They’ve consistently been a winner for so long they’ll 100% be viewed as a top 20 or better when they have 10+ win years. As long as they’re good any other 11 win Pac team will have a shot. Boise’s down years will be the ones the Pac gets no respect. Kinda like how when Texas and OU were mediocre or bad the Big 12 suddenly looked down to the media.

PAC 8 is better than Sun Belt in football for sure. Boise State made the playoffs and most of those schools are better than USM, ULL in football. Baseball is probably equal with Oregon State leading the PAC and Coastal Carolina leading the Sun Belt. Texas State made the right move for football, but travel for other sports will be brutal.

What does better even mean? We are all rats on the titanic. This whole "My G5 conference is better" is hysterical. Everyone is getting left for dead by the big boys.

I would think that Texas State has a slightly better shot at making playoffs than if they were in the Sun Belt, but you’re right, Group of 5 isn’t up there with Power 2.

Don't understand why the eastern teams want WKU
Besides Marshall WKU is far as frick from them

Maybe to add another TV market?

Voting power. The SBC East wants to eventually break off. The worst kept secret in college realignment. WKU furthers that goal. I don’t expect the west to give in for that reason.
I also think cooler heads in the east will eventually prevail.
I think order of probability:
50% chance it’s Tech
40% chance they hold at 13
10% chance it’s WKU

Texas State is a dogshit program in the Sun Belt. They’ll be even more of a doormat now.

After hearing our AD say there's no chance the SBC remains at 13, I'd say it's:
50% LaTech
50% WKU

What about Middle Tennessee? They make the most sense IMO.
Posted on 6/28/25 at 3:04 pm to BZ504
MTSU is trash. WKU and LaTech are both better programs.
Posted on 6/28/25 at 6:00 pm to Baers Foot
I assumed you guys would be adamantly opposed to WKU/MTSU rejoining the SBC since they bolted your conference in ‘14.
Posted on 6/28/25 at 6:10 pm to NoBoDawg
Meh. Things were different in ‘14
Posted on 6/28/25 at 6:49 pm to Pedro
Lol! I could only imagine the uproar from you SBC folk if Tech had left the SunBelt & made the move to rejoin.
Posted on 6/29/25 at 9:40 am to Pedro
The Belt should add LA Tech and kick out ULM. ULM brings nothing to the table. ULM needs to go back to the Southland.
