YA Tittle was a 2x 1st team all-SEC QB and broke basically every passing record LSU had at the time. And they stood for almost 30 years until Bert Jones broke them

Yes he was the highest rated TE coming out, but single NFL seasons that rivaled his entire college stats.
Like Gates he started as a basketball player, he scored more on the court than on the field in college.

Probably need to bring up Aaron Rodgers Despite how you feel about him on a personal level, he was a CC transfer that is a future HOF

So I guess you missed the point where the thread was about stats?

Bingo!

quote:

In total, during his college career Tittle set school passing records with 162 completions out of 330 attempts for 2,525 yards and 23 touchdowns. He scored seven touchdowns himself as a runner. His passing totals remained unbroken until Bert Jones surpassed them in the 1970s

Priest Holmes career stats at Texas:

Bizarre numbers to say the least.

Crowded backfield his entire career at Texas. Rose up the depth chart to become RB2 in his junior year. Was poised for a breakout senior year, but then he got injured and Ricky Williams broke out instead.

Perhaps that's true but Maxx Williams had more receptions, receiving yards, and TDs in two seasons at Minnesota than George Kittle had in four years

Vastly different levels of talent.

Before Kittle: Cj Fed. NFL.

With: Jake Duzey led Big Ten tight ends. Duzey was another NFL player before getting injured. Twice blew out patellar.

With: Fant. NFL

After: TJ hockenson. NFL.

Julian Edelman was a below average QB in college and has been an 11-year NFL wide receiver

This is ridiculous. He was playing at Kent state.

Any player that starts 30 games in college at Qb doesn’t have lackluster stats.

They do if their stats are lackluster despite having 30 starts.

They aren’t when you consider the conference.

More to the point, Edelman put up over 3k combined yards and 26 tds as a qb his senior year. No qb who rushes for 1200 yards put up lackluster stats.

In answering a question about player with lackluster college stats, selecting an All-American and highest rated player at his position is not correct. Especially at TE

Pretty sure Warren Moon was mediocre at best in college.

ETA: Career 48.8%, 6.6 YPA, 19 TDs, 17 INTs.

Kind of a different era in college football during that time, though. Lots of option plays being run at some of the big time programs.

Montana completed 52%, 6.8 YPA, 25 TDs and 25 INTs during his college career.
