"Going into the bowl games, Northern Illinois had one loss, we had two," Stoops said. "Theirs was to Iowa, right? Ours were to Notre Dame and K-State. And they're ranked ahead of us - well, they got the bid to the BCS bowl ahead of us."
"If they went through our whole schedule, would they have been 11-1? I doubt it," Stoops said. "So obviously then, the voters, it didn't matter that much to 'em. And it's not right."

Aww, poor Bobby. That big mean old BCS not rewarding you for your two loss season?

Never mind how OU backed into the BCS title game after getting bent over by KState 35-7 in the Big 12 title game in '03.

I am not a Stoops defender or anything like that, but his point is certainly valid.

Stoops wanting to go to a BCS game? He must be a glutton for punishment.

not really.

Northern Illinois wasn't even ranked ahead of them. They got in on the provision that they made it into the top 16 of the BCS. So he either doesn't even know how the system works (unlikely) or he is twisting the truth to fit his narrative (ie lying) b/c he is butthurt.

Also, lets just forget that there were several SEC teams ranked ahead of OU that were also not eligible for the BCS b/c of the team limit.

So even if it was "fair" OU would not have been selected.

NIU should have never snuck into a bowl like that.

He certainly wasn't crying when the BCS worked to his benefit.

At this point it's all just whining though. Playoff is coming along with a whole new set of issues to bitch about.

I hope they keep losing bowls.

I always know the new year has arrived when I see the press conference with Stoops apologizing for a bowl loss

The argument should be over the best teams vs. deserving teams. Rules are set up for Northern Illinois to make it as long as they meet requirements. The best teams don't always get selected for the premier bowls.

yep.

also, if it was only the most deserving teams that went, OU would NOT have been selected.

Yet he is only talking about how it was unfair that OU missed a BCS bowl. Thus he is wrong and he does not have a valid point.

He has a point. There seems to be more talk about big schools eventually spliting from the NCAA to form their own alliance, and leave the middle level programs and lower level ones in the dust.

True

What's his excuse for A&M treating them like an FCS team in the Cotton Bowl?
