I remember when Saban went 12-1 in his first season at Bama.

Oh wait....

Haven't they lost a lot of close games?

Sometimes football can be fluky.. Close losses can easily be wins and vice versa

How close is Miami to being 7-4 for example?

Lost by 10 to Maryland
Lost by 3 to USC in OT
Lost by 5 to Oklahoma
Lost by 3 to Oklahoma State in OT
Lost by 17 to TCU
Lost by 4 to Texas Tech

Lost to current ranked team, should have beaten Texas Tech though

First year at a program that wasn't in a great position to begin with.

Give the man a couple years.

I know fans are anxious, but do people really expect new coaches to come out with 10 win seasons in their first year at programs who were down prior years before?

Hmm so maybe 8 wins.

Couple of those losses are pretty bad

Maryland scored 50 on them. They were up big and Texas closed in to 10. 30-14 at half.

Maryland at the start of the season I can understand, Texas Tech I can't

USC, Oklahoma, TCU, and Oklahoma State are all ranked and were favorites

Second half collapse, but good fight back by Texas

Oklahoma State

Held them far below season average and lost in OT. Great game.

he had more than enough to win at least 9 games this year. there were texas media people throwing around 12-1

How is that rational?

Again, fans wanting 9-10 wins in a coach's first year is absurd. Maybe if an elite coach were to enter into a good situation at Bama if Saban were to leave or something like that, but Texas was no where that type of situation.

I thought 8-4 was more than reasonable. USC, Oklahoma, Okie lite, TCU were all better. The rest of their schedule was bad. West Virginia was their best W and they lost their qb on the opening drive.

He has beaten 3 teams with a winning record Iowa State (7-4) Kansas State (6-5) and West Virginia (7-4) They did blow out San Jose State, Baylor, and Kansas teams that have a combined 3 wins all year so at least he didn't blow it against a shitty team. Maryland is 4-7 and Texas Tech 6-6 so at least they're semi-average.

Our game still makes me mad. Should've been much closer or an Iowa State win with the right QB

To who? That is like the rant using a few posters who predicted O to win 11 or 12 games this year.

To whom? Irrational longhorn fans?

Again, Texas was not a program primed to have their new coach win 9-10 games consistently right off the bat. Anyone who thinks they were is being ignorant.

I thought Texas had some talent and Herman would win immediately
