Others may disagree, but I'd like to see Kingsbury at USC. I think that would be a great fit.
That would be an utter disaster. It would be great for Kingsbury...that's probably his dream job. And that Ryan Gosling-looking mother would do great with the top shelf USC babes.
But what has he won at Texas Tech? If he was some average looking dude with his record at Texas Tech, he wouldn't have a shot at USC. It would be Lane Kiffin II.
I think THIS is the job that Chip Kelly gets. God knows he would be a huge change from Sarkisian.

I'd rather Sark coach from in-patient rehab

Except that he really doesn't have any interest in going back to the college game anytime soon. Who knows, they may stick by Sark an ride it out for the rest of the year while he is in rehab, and give him one last shot next year. He could be fantastic if he can sober up. Sadly, I don't think that environment is conducive to staying sober once he got out of rehab.

What is this based on? Recruiting?

Probably already posted, but a review of his receipts shows a history...no surprise

More than 800 pages of receipts, hotel folios and expense reports obtained by The Times from Sarkisian's tenure at Washington show alcohol was a constant presence.
In 2011, for example, Sarkisian picked up a bill at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash., that included 83 beers and 12 shots of Grey Goose vodka. Twenty Washington coaches and their spouses are listed as attending.
During a one-night stay at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live in May 2011 for a speaking engagement, Sarkisian's hotel folio shows room service delivered a $90 bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne and a chocolate amenity, then six beers.
At the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix for a Pac-12 Conference head coach meetings, Sarkisian ran up $106 in minibar charges in one day in May 2012 and spent more than $1,600 over two days at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort and Spa's pool bar in 2013.

USC has proven in the past that they can get any player they want from any part of the country because they're USC.
And they finish top 5 by default, minimum, when their coach isn't a drunk or a douchebag.

i think their best best is an NFL coach. recruiting will never be a problem for USC. that's how they hit with carroll.
I could see Sean Payton being the coach there

And there is a bigger issue at stake with this incident happening this week:
Notre Dame is four unbeaten Power 5 Conference teams away from being gifted a playoff spot. Unless Stanford beats them. Or maybe Pittsburgh. Or somehow USC is focused enough to beat them Saturday.
Come on, Ohio State, LSU, TCU/Baylor and FSU/Clemson!

Exactly what I would have said if that was the reason that he could be called fantastic.

Maybe, but that doesn't make the coach "fantastic" by default. Just the opposite actually.
I don't get the appeal of Sark. He was a so-so coach at Washington. Hell Washington upgraded after he left.
Just another round of "Michigan Man" bullshite but at another school.

people forget just how truly awful washington was when he got there. i'm pretty sure they went winless the year before he got there. Ty Wittinham ran that program under the ground, in the sewer. he turned it around up there. he did a good job.
i like SS and think if he an get his drinking in order he is a really good coach

dude is a 7-5/8-4 coach at best.
he doesn't belong at a high profile job like usc. probably a solid mid major coach or lower tier power 5 school.

None of these seem super excessive. A little heavy maybe, but not over the top.
95 Drinks between 40 people (20 coaches + spouses) is roughly 2.5 drinks per person over dinner. How is that crazy?
$90 dollar bottle of champagne and some chocolate? He was getting laid. 6 beers afterwards? He sent the hooker home and watched Netflix.
$106 minibar charge? Peanuts are $8 in those things. Not hard to run up $106 tab and still be stone cold sober.
Now, $1,600 dollars at a pool bar...well, that's balling, but I doubt he drank all that himself.
The man's going through some tough shite right now and isn't handling it well, but let's not blow his previous, fairly reasonable, bar tabs out of proportion.
shite, the girlfriend and I will run up a $100 tab at brunch without blinking. Couple of bloody marys, a bottle or two of prosecco and juice, food, etc. That's a $100 check without tip.
When I lived in Miami, that was $200, and I don't even want to know what people would think if they looked at some of my bar tabs from back then. They were insane.
