I agree. Idk if the hostile work environment argument would win but I couldn't see any company letting it get that far with this much publicity. I find the forced contracts for rookies an interesting aspect of this. That's what makes it different from your average workplace.
Of course, add to that the argument that while forced, the draft and employment with the NBA are entirely voluntary, and it gets complicated. The response would be that the NBA monopolizes pro ball so the choice to participate is illusory, and then we're off to the races.
Would be fun to watch, but what a disaster to be involved in.

But I can almost promise you that nearly every NBA player has made a racist remark in their lifetime. I have done so and it is wrong and unfair. I look down on others at times . It is part of the human condition that we all share. It is wrong to judge others on the color of a man' skin.
Are you an owner of an NBA franchise? Are any of these hypothetical players also owners?

What I mean is "If Screamin' Stephen A Smith is the voice of reason, something is fricked up."
Yes, he's probably toned it down considerably, but that just means that the bar for other black commentators on ESPN has to be pretty damn low.
Possibly, buy honestly I have listened to him quite a bit the last year or so and he has been pretty fair in all aspects of race topics. Critical of blacks just as much as anyone else. At the end of the day he's still black so im sure there is still some bias. But hes not in the same world as Jemele fricking Hill

Had NBPA been unhappy with ruling, players would've boycotted tonight's playoff games.
Empty threat! The NBPA doesn't have the balls to do that.

Am I a horrible person for kinda regretting it didn't get there? It would have been fascinating

I guess the moral of the story is keep your controversial thoughts to yourself, or do a better job of surrounding yourself with trustworthy company.
A gold digger has you caught in a bind. Shocker.

And again, courts have been loathe to apply antitrust to sports leagues.
They are when it comes to baseball due to their exemption, but I don't think that's true across the board. Those NBA/NFL attorneys are all antitrust litigators.

Who knows I'm sure we'll have some legal spectacle to follow out of all of this.

not really, no
and I don't get why you are knighting for something Sentrius said.
but hey, if you want to act enlightened and above the fray while at the same time patting yourself on the back for calling out racist relatives at Thanksgiving by all means go ahead.

I repent and ask for forgiveness .
yeah and I guarantee you if Sterling asked for forgiveness and he's sorry for his old arse mentality of thinking (20 y/o when blacks were still segregated), people would STILL condemn the frick out of him.
Everyone in this world has been prejudice or made a racist remark at some point in their life. In private or public, but to condemn him and continue on feeding this monster (media) is just making it trayvon pt2

Supposedly, under the forced sale, the NBA would be in charge of the sale, not Sterling. This could be the work around of the antitrust argument. Yes, if sterling was forced to sell it himself, and others know it, he could get lowballed. But if NBA handles it, then buyers know that the other 29 owners are not gonna take a submarket price because that would affect the valuations of their own franchises. Thus, his argument that he didn't get FMV would go out the window.

i don't associate with racists, because i don't believe in racism. it's not a difficult concept
i think it's utterly irrational to believe that racism should require an emotional response and/or temper tantrum

Pretty sure this is going to arbitration and the courts will enforce that first

I also don't believe anyone should lose what they own for what they believe, even if what they believe is in bad taste.
It leaves a wide door open for who gets to determine what is and isn't acceptable.
If he wants to continue to own it, then so be it. He will lose sponsors for his beliefs, probably lose players and games, but he shouldn't lose what he owns because he said something people disagree with. That's not something I can condone.
