So is everyone satisfied with the ruling?
I don't particularly give a shite. I just find it interesting fodder for discussion. And I think it was a smart move by the NBA.

Yes they cancelled the one for next month, but that was going to be his SECOND lifetime achievement award received.

Vindicating the moronic bigots of the "other side" is certainly a negative byproduct of today.
Stephen A is actually one of the more rational blacks on espn these days
He also spent time criticizing the NAACP for associationg themselves with sterling because of his money

Yea, and many people have been critical of the NAACP as well the last couple days

This wasn't the situation
It was something to do with wrongfully evicting blacks and Hispanics from complexes they were already renting
Yes, I do understand that. But these 'wrongful evicting' cases come more often than you think.
My parents are housing/apt owners and we rent out all the time. Some tenants are really hard to deal with and it bites you in the arse sometimes when you evict them.
In my case, a 3-400lb guy demanding we change out a brand new toilet because it wasn't big enough for him (biggest residential one at lowes' fyi). We told him no and he shoved a towel down the drain, had to call a plumber to fix everything, costed hundreds, and we evicted him for damages to the house which voids contract. A month later we get slapped with discrimination and had to go to court.
We won the case, but any tenant can twist shite around (say u were racist, etc and kicked them out for no merits and you never caused damages. Lucky for us, I keep electronic, paper, and real copies of every documentation). Media also plays a role in it too.

Someone should question the NAACP and what they are going to do with all that money he gave them.. hmm..

How is he going to sue for antitrust? I mean, he can sue over breach of contract, but what on earth is his antitrust claim? They allowed him to compete for 30 years.
the cnn article gets into this in great detail
quote:
How has he been unfairly prevented from competing?
i'm no expert
quote:
The NBA must also be concerned about the possibility of Sterling suing the NBA and owners, such as for breach of the Clippers franchise agreement or for violations of federal and state antitrust law. NBA franchise agreements contain language that limit the ability of owners to sue the NBA and other owners. This language is known as "waiver of recourse", which means that an owner, by virtue of owning an NBA team, voluntarily waives away legal recourses he or she might otherwise have against the NBA and owners.
The waiver would likely aid the NBA in regards to a contract breach claim, but courts are generally unwilling to extend waivers to antitrust claims. A potential antitrust claim by Sterling against the NBA would be that his competitors (other NBA owners) and the NBA have conspired to expel him. By doing so, the logic goes, Sterling would have to sell his team at less than market value because prospective buyers would know that Sterling "has to" sell. As a result, he would attract lower bids. Under federal antitrust law, any damages Sterling receives would be automatically multiplied by three. He may have additional claims under California antitrust law.

Exactly. They obviously have the right to ban him for conduct detrimental to the league, or what have you. I'm curious what grounds they have to buy him out. I don't see how people just automatically assuming the NBA can or can't do it.

I agree. Idk if the hostile work environment argument would win but I couldn't see any company letting it get that far with this much publicity. I find the forced contracts for rookies an interesting aspect of this. That's what makes it different from your average workplace.

Anyone who as listened to him recently could tell you this
I used to not be able to stand him. But he has gotten better. I've heard him countless times criticize blacks for being stupid abd giving black people the bad reputation they have in this world. Hes not always just on the black guys side

that doesnt mean anyone who was offended by Sterling telling his side piece that she shouldn't be seen in public with black people is stupid.
