The web.com tour is littered with current and former PGA players. The average weekend warrior couldn't come within 20 strokes of a pro on a championship level course over a tournament.
If Curry makes the cut, it would be something close to a miracle.
Im not some kind of golf purist, or snob by any means. So I hope that he makes the cut. I don't expect him to. If he does awesome.
I also wanted Michelle Wie and Annika Sorenstam to do well when they played in those PGA events.

Where are you following the coverage? PGA app and espn are behind

That's just incorrect. Pros play ameteurs all the time and lose more than you think. Phil Mickelson lost to a 17 year old kid a couple of years ago. That kid is a pro now, but wasn't then. The big thing to overcome for ams is the tournament atmosphere. They can play with those guys on any given day, but the pressure gets to the guys that aren't used to it.
You're talking about amateurs with a pro work schedule. They have coaches and caddies, and practice schedules just like the guys on tour, they eat, sleep, and play golf.
Curry doesn't have that type of dedication to the game year round due to his other responsibilities, be it media, basketball, or sponsor obligations.

Do you think that a guy like Romo or Curry in this instance, took that route and lived the pro golfer life. Practice, Practice, eat, practice practice, sleep. Do you think they would improve enough to get on a tour like Web or PGA.

That is tough to say. Considering their talent and athleticism, it is not out of the equation. I mean if they are close to a scratch golfer in the limited amount of time they currently dedicate, then sure.

Curry pars 17, moves to his 9th hole at +2 for the day.
Birdie-Par-Par last 3 holes

Damn, not bad at all.

Pars his ninth (the 18th). +2 thru 9.

As of now, there are 8 pros shooting worse than Curry. As I said earlier in this thread, that is not a great look for golf. A dude that plays for a hobby is beating "pros"? I get it, but the casual fan wont

But I mean +2 isn't bad. Not a knock on the other golfers just a testament of currys skill

Im not saying I follow this sentiment; however, what does it say about a sport that a guy that has a full time other job can compete with pros?
Posted on 8/3/17 at 2:01 pm to lsupride87
It says that through half a round of golf, Curry is competing against them. Play 36 or 72 holes, or an entire season, and Curry probably loses to them.
Curry beating them on 9 holes is like an 8 or 9 seed team defeating the #1 seed in March Madness - best of 7, it ain't happening but in a single game elimination format, anyone can get hot and win a game they shouldn't.

It says that guy is multi-talented.

A tennis player could return a serve against a pro. A Texas league baseball player could get a hot off of an MLB pitcher. It's not like pro athletes are a different species that others are unable to compete against. Especially in a sport like golf where consistency is key.

Curry is taking a sport he plays as a hobby and beating other pros at that actual sport. There is no other way to say it
