The slope of the course is 74. That's like your average course from the tips. For reference Squire Creek is 75.4 or 75.3 slope from the tips. The point is the course is set up for people to make birdies and Steph is good enough to do that
You have a lot of confidence in guys who don't play tournament golf, play their home course, and give putts.
Romo is 10 times the player Steph is and just shot 80-81 at the Western Am.

Romo may be better but not 10x.
Mendoza line is 81.
Lets see two rounds.

Didn't he go triple-triple to shoot 80?

He's made it to US Open Sectionals. He's a much better player

Curry is likely to put up a couple of rounds in the low 80s but he could surprise and shoot scores in the mid 70s. His final round at the Celebrity Tournament in Tahoe was really impressive. Made an eagle and 3 birdies to 1 bogey to shoot 68. If the nerves don't get to him and he has a couple good days he won't embarrass himself.

Curry beat Romo by 10 shots (looking at the actual stroke play scores) at the American Century last month or whenever it was. Curry had one of the best rounds of the tournament. Romo isn't as good as he once was.

caught a glimpse of Mike and Mike at the gym earlier and guest hosts (Willie Colon was one) debated O/U of Curry shooting 70 today
Didn't hear what they said, but that's a terrible O/U. I'll take over all day. He's more likely to shoot high 70s than he is high 60s

76 is a good o/u for a scratch amateur with big accomplishments in another sport in his only pro golf tourney.

anyone know what time he tees off?
also, we're talking about a damn web.com event on the MSB...mission accomplished to the sponsors.

Quick update folks. Curry's opening tee shot actually settled in a cup holder on a golf cart. A drop in the rough. And then a gutty bogey. He just hit his tee shot on the 11th hole, his second hole of the day. Another pull hook. We will have to see about the lie
Don't see that everyday. But his makes his bogey a little more impressive.

Several web pros will shoot that.
I would say 80 for a scratch amateur in his only pro tourney is a good O/U but is Curry even scratch? I think he shoots 84-85 today.

Just made par on the second hole (#11).

My point was, he's taking away a spot from someone who's earned their dues, seeing as the web tour is right below the PGA tour.
Golf's popularity has been in sharp decline for many years and you think it's a problem that a tourney has the good foresight to invite a huge sports celeb to play (who is actually pretty good and loves the game) in an effort to boost visibility and win over new fans?

TT9 is on suicide watch
quote:
His putt pops off the collar but spills down close. Nice play. Another par. He is one over thru three. Maybe he will be more than a novelty act?
quote:His partners are #2 and 3 on the web.com tour btw.....
Curry's two partners have each made a bogey. All three guys are one over.

I'll be pretty embarrassed for anyone he beats over 2 rounds of golf and if he threatens to make the cut I will be embarrassed for the game of golf.
Posted on 8/3/17 at 11:56 am to PhiTiger1764
Or maybe he's just good at golf?
Tony Romo is pretty good too. Is that embarrassing for the game as well?
