The Rodgers subplot of this is also hilarious and will be completely over covered by the media, since he and the Steelers are both now irrelevant in the scheme of winning anything

If Rodgers was a factor in the hire, it was a retarded move. (And by retarded I mean literally sub-80 IQ.)

Rodgers has one, maybe 2 years left.

Rodgers making it known he’ll only play for Tomlin or McCarthy is extra funny when no one else wants anything to do with him at this stage in his career

As a die-hard Steelers fan I can say with great certainty that this was the worst possible hire.

100%

The last 2 weeks have been wild. Another blowout playoff loss and feeling hopeless with Tomlin, then Tomlin steps down and you think there’s a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, and then this is the direction they go.

Art Rooney is riding the coattails of his father’s legacy. He’s actually up there with Mike Brown as one of the most clueless owners in the NFL.

I was just gonna say he'll have at least 15 years to get it right

He's overweight, old, and coaching is a high stress profession.

I'll be surprised if he's still alive in 15 years (unless he retires fairly soon).

Solid hire Born in Pittsburgh 61% win avg (Tomlin 63%) Won the division 8 times (same as Tomlin) Super Bowl champ (same as Tomlin) 4 NFC championships games (1 more than Tomlin) 8 divisional champ games (3 more than Tomlin) Coach of the year (Tomlin zero) .500 in the playoffs (Tomlin .400)
It’s fascinating to me that McCarthy and Sean Payton have similar resumes, yet Payton is lauded as a HoF coach while McCarthy gets shat on. I’ll guess it’s because he’s fat. He also probably had to put up with untold levels of Jerry Jones bullshite when he was in Dallas, no telling how much that impacted his coaching ability.

Well their fans seemed to feel those were burdensome so now they won't have to deal with those problems anymore

I hope he has it figured out because he seems like a genuine guy.

I am kind of rooting for him like I am for Caleb Williams, both get A LOT of hate and yes some of it is deserved but I like to see people/players progress and overcome their deficiencies.

It's not the worst coach to hire ,but Mike McCarthy doesn't really satisfy anybody.

If you tired of Mike Tomlin, why the frick would you hire a similar coach that's late in their career. You might as well just keep Mike Tomlin at that point.

I agree. McCarthy isn't a very inspiring hire, but I think he gets dumped on more than he should.

In addition to Payton, John Harbaugh's numbers are only marginally better than McCarthy's, yet he's seen as a home run hire for the Giants.
