I watched Sunderland Til I Die a few weeks ago about a EPL soccer club. It was pretty good so I thought I'd give this cricket show a try.

What has jumped out to me is that these cricket pros (on supposedly a top Indian cricket squad) look like your average American high school baseball team athletically. I'm sure cricket is way harder than it looks, but these guys seem like they've never stepped in a gym. Anyone with cricket knowledge wanna correct me or am I missing something?

The higher the quality of cricket the more it is purely a finesse game. The “batsmen” really don’t need muscle.

Bowlers maybe. But not really. Strength has drastically diminishing returns in cricket.

Is it test cricket or T20? I've never watched that show but getting high and watching a few hours of test cricket was great in college

Million Dollar Arm is a true story.

A country-wide search of 700,000,000 Indian males to find a person who could throw in the 90's turned up two guys...who got a minor-league contract with the Pirates with a signing bonus of $8,000 between the two.

There's a reason India has one of the fewest Olympic medals despite having an enormous population.

Have no idea. It looks like going to a game would be pretty fun. Not sure about the rules or scoring but it is entertaining.

I lived in Australia for a year and watched cricket quite a bit. I took it upon myself to learn it. Some of the bowlers are definitely great athletes. Outside of that, it is definitely more of a finesse game. The Big Bash league is closer to what Americans would find interesting. Shorter games and the main point is to mash. Can be pretty fun to watch after multiple beers or a few blunts.

They said in the episode I have on that it's T20. Also hurling is awesome to watch if youve never seen it. I randomly found a youtube video of Irish hurling and it's pretty damn amazing

If you have the chance watch Australian Big Bash Cricket. It is a much shorter version of the game: each side bats once with a finite amount of “pitches.” Scoring is easy to learn as well. If the ball is hit cleanly out of the ring without touching the ground it is 6 points (a “sixer”), if it hits the ground before leaving the ring it is 4 points, for any other ball hit in play a point is scored each time batters switch sides.

Snoop, do you watch any of the international test matches? Once I learned cricket, I actually enjoyed the long matches. Big Bash is great for entertainment but A lot more strategy is involved in longer test matches.

Watch IPL cricket if you have Comcast. You can find it using the sports app. It is India’s version of Big Bash cricket. SunRisers Hyderabad is playing Rajasthan Royals right now.

Tomorrow morning the Mumbai Indians host Kings XI Punjab and later the Delhi Capitals face off against Kolkata Knight Riders.

If you think about it, Indians pretty much suck at all athletic sports besides cricket. It always stuck out to me that they'd always play tennis in high school but you never saw any pro tennis players that have Indian heritage.

Aren't most vegetarians? The few guys I worked with over the years were all vegetarians. Maybe that has something to do with it

I have done a lot of work in India, and they just invest zero dollars in sports. Hell, 80% are just trying to survive.

The only sport I really got into, and frankly it is a good time to go watch and have some beers are Kabaddi. Only thing with some violence there.
