It wasn't icing because the players reached the puck before it crossed the goal line. It didn't matter who was closer... there simply wasn't icing.

Fun yet stressful game. Let's win Game 7. Hell of a series.

ETA: Here's a picture to show why they waived off icing. The Lightning player is playing the puck before it crosses the goal line, which is why the linesman calls no icing.

That sucks, I was hoping they would start on Saturday.

I fell asleep right after the Caps' first goal and winced when I looked up the score in the middle of the night, thinking they probably took the gaspipe. Glad we get another game of drama.

Some of those derps ending up being worth a lot of money. He's probably seen that, but you should send it to Puck Daddy Wyshynski at Yahoo. I reported on a jersey foul during the 2009 Cup Finals and made the column.

Devante Smith-Pelly called it a perfect game. I'm not sure I'd go that far, they did need Holtby to bail them out with some ten bell saves, but it was the exact game they needed. The Caps simply beat the snot out of the Bolts, both game-wise and physically. They lowered some evil checks in that game, and it took its toll as things wore on.

Usually, I approach the day after from the Caps point of view, so to flip my perspective: what in the hell was John Cooper thinking? You want to play a slow, low-event game with a ton of hitting against the Caps? When they're at home? That's... well, that's certainly one way to go about things but probably not the way I'd go about things. It seems like the Lightning willingly played into every Caps' strength. Open things up. Play end to end. Win via skill and speed.

So, now we go to Game 7. It's been a remarkably even series. Either team could win this and it would be a just result. It'll come down to who gets the breaks on Wednesday. I'm a little ticked my team is in it, so I can't just enjoy the game. But this has been an excellent series between two highly skilled teams. I really do mean this... it's a shame one of them has to lose. Six games in, and I have no bad blood towards the Lightning, just increased respect for their quality of play. Let's play one more.

The Lightning did seem very passive in the game, especially considering the hammer the Caps were bringing.

That said, despite the clear tilt in favor of the Caps, if Holtby had not been standing on his head, it could have been a much different story.
