re: Sports that you just don't get

I understand the NBA and why it is played the way it is, I just wish there was more importance on the regular season to make every game interesting.

I guess I don't really understand the in and outs of Volleyball strategy other than set it up every time for your tallest player to spike it.

Cricket. Why is can the batter hit it backwards and it be completely normal and why can the games last for a week?

Basketball is great. The regular seasons are too long in both college and the NBA, however.

NASCAR is just horrible.

High school football is awful except at the very highest level.

I like that there's lots of different sports on the grounds of diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. Auto racing bores the crap out of me, but I'm not into cars. I don't personally get it, but I understand how someone would like it. I like that.

But I don't get the rise of the X-Games, as it's such a horrible betrayal of what made those activities popular in the first place. Skateboarding and bike tricks were anti-sports, it was about showing off, not trying to win trophies or whatever. And now it's a regular competition just like everything else. I'm saying a miss the old Bones Brigade videos.
