Sports that you just don't get

I love football. I like baseball and hockey. I'm new to Rugby, so I watch it when I can to try and learn the rules. I can even watch womens tennis, occasionally. But I just don't get the love for basketball. It's nothing new. I've never really understood the basics, i.e. what each position does or how plays work, of the sport. It just seems like alot of running all over the court and taking a shot when u can.

I'm the same with basketball. I watch LSU and the Hornets and love going to the games. But I do not like basketball.

basketball and soccer are so awesome because there is so much spontaneity involved. anything can happen at any time.

I don't get the love for horse racing. I can understand the betting involved, but that seems like the only thing of interest. I get annoyed when you see a list of the top 100 athletes of all time and Secretariat is mentioned. It's a horse.

Soccer. I don't know the rules or positions. I don't enjoy watching people run up an down a field the size of Rhode Island for an hour and a half and score one point.

Curling is kinda like horsehoes, whatever team is closest to the center at the end of a turn gets points.

This thread loosely fits a convoluted thought of mine, so I'll just post it here.
Basketball and soccer are two flawed sports into very similar yet opposite ways.
In basketball you can cheat to extend the game (fouling). In soccer you can cheat to shorten the game (flopping).
In basketball, both teams are in the game in the last five minutes in like 90% of NBA games. There are no real major turning points where the game greatly changes. Yeah, a team can go on a 10-0 run in the second quarter, but that rarely puts the game out of reach. In soccer, the game can be over at any point. One or two goals scored can put games out of reach (unless you are the USA
).
This all makes sense to me, but likely makes sense to none of ya'll...as it has yet to make sense to anyone I explain this two.
With that said, I love basketball, and I'm glad there's a soccer board so I don't to read about Europeans.
