re: Sports talk radio in BR

Of course Charles Hanagriff is the GOAT but Jacob Hester is really good when he’s not under the umbrella of T-Bob imo. I sometimes catch some of his shows or interviews with national people and he comes off as really polished and knowledgeable. Come a long way since the show with Flynn at like 7 pm
I think Baton Rouge sports talk is pretty good considering the market.

You have 1045 and Jordy, that’s about it. There are some pathetic local guys trying to make it on 1045, and we may not have great shows, but we should be thankful that we do have decent shows.

Hunt is Hannigriff in waiting. Both love baseball and have insane memories for LSU sports.

Terrestrial radio is dead pretty much everywhere, but it hangs on here in Louisiana bc we’re 5-10 years behind the rest of the country.

Advertisers will become more savvy and understand how to better targets their ad dollars - and most content will move to digital soon. It’s inevitable.

I’ve lived/worked in a lot places around the country and Baton Rouge puts out more local sports content than anywhere else. You can gripe about the personalities, but that kind of work is a grind and we’re fortunate to have the Hanni’s/Masconas/Hesters/Tbobs/Jordy’s /etc that are passionate enough about it to do the work.
